    Yesterday, I ordered the 1,000 rnd box of Winchester M22. Got the standard e-mail:

    Thank you for your recent order. We appreciate your shopping at Cabelas.com and hope that you had an enjoyable shopping experience. You will receive another e-mail at the time your order ships.
    Products Ordered

    1 of 21-7893 WINCHESTER M*22 1000-ROUND PACKS .22LR 40GR PLRN/1000 @ $49.99 each
    Backorder-Tentative arrival to Cabelas 05/25/13
    We apologize for any inconvenience that you have incurred due to any status change on your order. If you prefer to change or cancel your backorder, please contact us for an immediate refund. Credit card orders will not be charged until your items are shipped.

    WTF?? I didn't incur any order changes. Then I get a similar e-mail today:

    Thank you (Blah, blah, blah).....

    Backorder :sad20::tdown:

    Now I understand that we're not charged until they ship, but It seems like a "bait and switch' maneuver to hold your money "captive" until they can get the product in after they have taken your financial commitment. I never thought that they worked like that. :shrug:
    BUT at those prices, I guess I'll wait and see, LOL. It IS a GOOD Deal - if I get it, Heh, heh.

    Anyone else get a similar e-mail?
    (It's funny how they are apologizing for the changes that I DIDN'T INCUR because I only ordered the product. I didn't change anything - they incurred the change in status of the order by changing the availability, didn't they? I'll bet most people don't read the "fine print" in the e-mail.)

    You'll most likely get another email saying this is expected to arrive at Cabela's at some point in the future because it is backordered.

    That's what I got this morning.

    Cabela's is either deliberately overselling or they have an inventory control problem. I've twice been able to order off the site, gotten an acknowledgement email telling me it's in stock and giving a delivery day. Then a few days later it's all the sudden back ordered.

    They may not have their web site tied to inventory and can't take the product down fast enough when it sells out.

    I don't have the same issue with Natchez and others.

    Nonetheless, that's not really a good way to run a business. If a company cannot handle the volume due to their inventorying process, then they should resolve the technical problem or at the very least, inform the customers of their inability or difficulty to fill the order up front, prior to them selling or starting a financial transaction with their customers. Get'r done, Cabelas, this is :bs:.
