I did happen to make my purchase at On Target, but the way I'm reading the waiver form for pick up after 7 days, if a person did happen to be disapproved by msp, if it is not possible to return the gun to On Target how would you get your money back if it was paid in full?

You wouldn't you would have to sell it at a loss assuming you failed to get the disapproved cleaned up but that is true at all gun shops once you sign the form accepting the transfer the guns goes out of there book the only way that they or any FLL can accept it back is if it goes on there books as a new transfer at that point it is a used gun not worth what a new gun is.

    Thanks

Interesting how many are "in review". I find that disturbing and an opportunity for the state to abuse the process to further delay not disapproved.

It's definitely troubling. With the way things are right now -- for that matter, not even right now, just the way the law is written, regardless of the circumstances -- the MSP could take all applications for regulated firearms and simply throw them in the trash. It would be perfectly legal, and since the FFLs don't honor the seven-day thing, you'd never get your gun. Granted, MSP would face a lawsuit if they tried to pull a stunt like that, and even here in ultra-blue Maryland, a judge would find in favor of the prospective gun buyers. The fact that it's even theoretically possible, though, is an unpleasant thought.

dont send an email they hardly get back with any speed call them

I sent them an email at 4:43 pm yesterday & received a response at 7:02 am this morning. Response was: "Good morning, we are currently processing applications dated March 10th & 11th for individuals that do not require a second review and February 25th for those that do."
7:02 am?? WOW! I didn't expect that quick of a reply!! Mine went in on March 19 for my 1st purchase. Slowly but surely it's getting there. Just hope they don't come back with some lame sh*t about a 'common name'!!

This is the release form I signed to pick up after 7 days from On Target. I picked up my 3/29 purchase on 5/9.

I was just told that "Atlantic Guns has not made a decision on the same policy yet. Our owner is chairman(?) of the FFL licensing organization(?) so we may face more scrutiny.
We will start calling customers as soon as our policy changes.". Their statement is fair enough, but I suspect they will have to or sales will go to those FFL's that do release after 7 days.

Additionally, neither the MSP or FFL's are to blame. We are to blame. Democratic process has resulted in stricter gun laws to go in to effect. We should not have waited until the last minute (like I did as a first time owner).

the only way MSP is going to feel any pressure to fix this unacceptable situation is if more FFLs start releasing after 7 days. otherwise, they could not give a rat's ass how long people have to wait.

Watch how fast MSP moves when FFLs are releasing after 7 days...I bet the Gov. finds more money and manpower faster than he has to date...

I urge everyone to respectfully call or email your FFL and politely inform them that others are releasing and would they consider doing the same...I believe there is a small hole in the damn right now and its getting bigger with every FFL that follows the law as it is written.

I spoke with them this morning and was told that they are on the 26th reviews at this time.

The stacks of those in review are going to soon double the length of time it took to even get put into review in the first place. It took them 61 days to even get to my application date of 3/7. It now seems like it may be another 30 - 61 days to get out of review! Insane incompotence.

One of my local FFLs let me have a firearm before the MSP came back indicated thats how it would be from here on out. Also heard Select Fire was doing the same....can anyone else verify that? If more FFLs start to follow the law as written it could be the end of this nonsense!
I have used 2 in the area...I asked them both to release after I did a private transfer and was told by the trooper to release the firearm after 7 days...1 did...1 didnt. I think we should all ask...cant hurt and some more might say yes which should lead to even more following the law.

Engage Armament is now doing it 'only if you have recently been Non Disapproved with us'. I did not want to argue with them over the phone, but that is a stupid rule as it only adds very little protection for them.

I agree with this approach. Be polite and understanding. If more or all of the FFL start doing this it will send a HUGE UNIGNORABLE MESSAGE to Annapolis and the idiot lawmakers there.

    huh?
if they have an nd from last week, most likely you will get another nd next time

if you have never had an nd they have no clue how you will come back

True enough, but why 'only with them'. What if you can prove you had an ND from another FFL within 'last week'? (pay one FFL to fax the other FFL) or in case of first purchase: let the FFL do an (extra) NICS check before release. Don't mind paying for that either as it is not the FFL's fault.

Even though I was sent to review and will have to wait a bit longer. At least I now know once this first one goes through, I can be smart about where I make my next purchase, and be confident signing the waiver and only have to wait a week. For those that I have already been informed of a recent ND rock n roll with that waiver and bam no more waiting!!!

I just contacted Atlantic Guns Silver Spring store via the website Contact Us email process. This is what I sent.

"It appears that other FFL's are releasing guns that have been waiting on the MSP to return the applications for months and following the existing Maryland Law of 7 days. I purchased my hand gun from the Alantic Guns Silver Spring Store on 3/7/2013 AND paid in full at that time. I have been waiting 65 days (over 9 weeks). I'm wondering if you are going to start helping your paying customers obtain their firearm as stated by Maryland Law as it appears several other FFL's are doing at this time.

Thank you for attention to this matter and I look forward to your reply."

    What do you think?
