So are they still doing the March 1st rally? When is the Senate Vote?
Why do you say "they"?
WE are all going to show up in Annapolis on the first for the hearing and have our voices heard, educate those legislators who can be, and to let them know we are watching.
Not "they"...."WE"!
Lost my audio. Anyone else? Says they are adjourned on the page???
That is correct. 3rd reading and then filibuster (hopefully) or vote at 8 AM
But they were still talking and one of the senators was getting ready to offer a set of amendments, geez, I gotta stop listening to this before I go to bed. Ruins my sleep.
I am so upset, but it's better to hear them rationalizing their insane thinking.
I was yelling at my iPad when the fingerprinting amendment came up. None of what that pompous jerk rattled off was a right.
Also, I saw a post earlier that read, if you get pulled over with an AW in you vehicle, they will take it. Well, my understanding is if maryland says you have to register it to keep it, then maybe thats what you should do, or dont be dumb enough to ride around town or whatever with it in the car. If you bought it from a dealer here in maryland it is regulated and registered anyways. and according to the sec. of state police, you would not have to re register that firearm. Now did i miss something in the bill that says you can still legally possess it, but not transport it? sure would be hard to go to the range. At the town hall meetings, we were told that you could even take it out of state and bring it back in as long as is was registered. Im not trying to be a smart a$$ but if i read that wrong than please inform me so i wont be telling the wrong intel.
There is a section that says *all* transport is illegal aside from the provisions in the next section, and the next section only calls out transport to the police station with a court order.
I read that as banning transport unless you are turning it in.
For those arguing that it does not ban transport:
- Does that make you feel better about the bill or something?
- Whether it explicitly bans transport or implies it or whatever should not matter. We are against it.
- Banning transport makes the bill less likely to pass, more people will be against it. So I say it bans transport based on how I read it.

I'm really struggling with some of this, and I've been a lawyer for 31 years and used to analyze bills as part of my job. I understand the part about if you already went through the existing process for transfer of regulated weapon, you don't have to re-register it. But how about a non-regulated weapon under today's law that suddenly becomes a "copycat" weapon under the new law? Like one of Lou's Mini-14 GBs, with flash hider, bayonet lug and removable magazine. Does that have to be registered if SB281 is voted into law? Also, I'm having trouble with the language about capable of accepting a magazine that extends beyond the grip. Does that mean that sales of 1911s will be prohibited because someone might make a 10 round mag that extends beyond the grip? How about 11 rounds? Or a Luger, which normally only holds 8 rounds, but there are "snail" mags out there that hold a lot more.
Something everyone should consider, most of our politicians have Facebook pages where they personally read and post. I suggest searching by name and adding new friends to voice your opinions to directly. They need to see we are real people with real merit and not just an email on a page. Attending in person is best, but we need to use every grassroots method available and this is just an idea.
