I'm in the 2/5 boat with ya, man. This 30 days is gonna suck. I guess it's time to (try to) stock up on ammo. Lord knows I'm gonna blow through it all in the first week!

Wally World in Nottingham has winchester .45 auto 100 rd boxes for 40.77. They had 9 left after I bought what i wanted

I hope a firearm company sends O'Malley the Salesman of the Year award, sales of guns to MD must be incredible right now to have a backlog like this.

I hope a firearm company sends O'Malley the Salesman of the Year award, sales of guns to MD must be incredible right now to have a backlog like this.

    According to MD numbers:

Firearm transfer requests (includes sales by licensed dealers, secondary and private sales, gifts, and other voluntary transfers):
    2010 38,712 with about 2,000 being disapproved
    2012 69,606 with over 6,000 disapprovals
    Dec 2012 saw 11,362 applications. Monthly average for Jan-Nov 2012 is 5,295.

Total Handgun Permits Approved (includes new and renewal):
    2010 4,762
    2012 4,736

These numbers are from the Maryland Department of State Police (DSP)

So it went DOWN in 2012! I don't recall all this trouble in 2010, do you? Can all this trouble be attributed to regulated long gun sales?

Not sure what you are looking at, Transfer requests almost doubled.

The permits I am thinking are carry permits. Not handgun transfers.

I fixed it. The table isn't clear as it just says Firearm Transfers and Handgun Permits, but doesn't define each.

Just did my paperwork tonight for my final gun purchase, until things calm down, tonight. Not too concerned with wait time since I have plenty of others to keep me occupied. While I was there MSP called trying to track down paperwork they couldn't locate from 2011. Looks like MSP is just as organized as my 11 year old.

I'm not done yet. I will put paperwork in Wednesday for one I ordered and hope to also have a transfer to do!

Still waiting on AR paperwork from 1/16. Also waiting on an AK transfer to arrive so I can do the paperwork on that. God only knows when the suppressor paperwork will ever return. I'll be playing the waiting game for a very long time. At least fighting o'malleys bills keeps me busy :)

My dealer has gotten back paperwork from as late as the 14th, but they are still getting back paperwork from the 10th, 11th, and 12th, too. I *KNOW* that they submit to MSP within 24 hours, so I am assuming that the staggered approvals are indicative of multiple officers processing paperwork from multiple sources. IOW, it seems like not every application from Bass Pro or Gun Connection is handled by the same officer, nor does it seem that every application from a particular dealer from the same day is even handled by the same officer. It seems like they practically shuffle a week or so's worth of the damn things before they hand them out.
