MSP wait times for handgun approval

Did you purchase it from a dealer that has a range? If so you can shoot it there while you wait for your paperwork to come back. You just can't take it home. I bought our pistol at Free State and we're waiting on our papers to come in (been three weeks) but our gun has 1200 rds through it already

I did. I purchased at Continental Arms. The "good" news with this is that I was waiting for funds from some ebay sales I made to come though (Paypal takes FOREVER!) so I should be able to pay it off completely in the next week or so, and I'll take some ammo and put some rounds downrange when I go in to pay it off, but it still irritates me that as a citizen in good standing that I have to wait for what should already be mine and in my possession.

I'm not happy about this - I put a deposit down on an HK USP .45 a week ago, and it burns me up that I'm going to have to wait a month or more before I can take possession and shoot it.

If you are buying from an individual, in this case a friend. Does the FFL HAVE to take ownership of the handgun, or can the original owner hold onto the handgun until the approval comes back?

Owner hangs onto it, FFL isnt even involved. (if you go through the MSP)

I spoke to MSP today about my 1/12 purchase. They responded promptly and said that my paper work had been "processed" and that my FFL should hear something "soon." And GM uses fax machanes. Soo im eagerly waiting for a call tomorrow...
