Check out the quotes from Dwyer about how many emails he got in opposition vs support. :D

And, and Senator from Pasadena, got "One or Two in favor of the bills"

Man What a great read.:D Man it shows what we are doing is making a BIG impact to the fence sitters. Keep it up. I love this quote

“This is the most one-sided issue I’ve ever dealt with,” said Del. Pam Beidle, D-Linthicum.

Her office received more than 2,250 emails, letters and phone calls against the bill. An overwhelming majority, she said, encouraged a “no” vote.

“I don’t know if the people concerned with gun safety aren’t paying attention or what,” she said. “We’re not hearing from them.”

Yay!!! I spent 3 1/2 hours this morning emailing every member of the house and senate copies of my written testimonies as well as special ones to the committee members and my Senator and Delegates letting them know about my new status as a democrat voter.

This issue is so incredibly lopsided because people know right from wrong, and as a result, there is strong opposition to it.

was looking for this article.. but found the other OP also..

Members of the Judicial Proceedings Committee said Thursday it was too early to predict how the panel might alter the bill, but Chairman Brian E. Frosh (D-Dist. 16) of Chevy Chase said there was a compelling case for a ban on assault weapons, a limit on magazine clip size and licensing, which have reduced gun crime elsewhere.

“It’s not like you can take a pill and we’re going to be better,” Frosh said. “But we do know reasonable steps that can be taken to reduce [gun fatalities].”

he's a doof.. i guess he doesnt read other news, reports and studies.. and worst.. doesnt give a hoot about thousands of testimony on the 6th.

So, if you're for the freedom to own firearms, you're not concerned with gun safety. Nice spin.

Then it goes on to explain away the lopsidedness with the theory of "loss aversion."

Oh, that's why the responses are overwhelmingly pro-2A, not because many, many people feel strongly about it.

The antis are out there; they're just being quiet.

    Sheesh.

What about the comments of Dan Nataf, Anne Arundel Community College director of the Center for the Study of Local Issues???

“In this case, the fear of losing a right is far stronger than the desire to gain security,” Nataf said. “The whole concept is entrenched in the culture of gun owners: small loss leads to bigger loss leads to total loss.”

Maybe we should fill his inbox (ddnataf@aacc.edu) with responses that losing the 2A will not gain security but the opposite. Not to mention the Small:Big:Total loss theory is a matter of fact of history. Maybe he should send his PhD back and try again.

I agree that this is a pretty crappy way to spin it, especially since those of us who are very concerned about our rights to own firearms are typically MORE concerned about gun safety than those who aren't.
