From what I understand from the dealers, the tables cost $65 each. Plus the time to get there and having to pay folks to man the tables. You have to sell a hell of alot of ammo and guns just to break even. Just go to Dicks or Bass Pro or werever you buy from and support them. Its not just going to a gun show to buy items but to get together with your gun buddies and just shoot the crap. Don't complain when gun shows in Maryland are no more.

R u talking about the FS2000? It was way over priced, I just got one last month for <$2,000 they wanted around $2500

    the fs2000 is 5.56 it's the ps90 that's 5.7

I saw the fs right in the corner there in the 5.56, way over priced. There was also one in 5.7 near the p90 in 5.7, at least I think it was in 5.7 but when I went back it was gone. I think that was under 2k. Id love to get a 2000 though. I think they are nice guns. If they arent illegal in a couple of months, with me saving, I might pick on up. Otherwise I will just have to be jealous of everyone that has one.

We went today, saw the line out the door. Bagged it and came home with a full belly from Padonia station.

    Firehawk,

You do realize that a lot of these guys do shows outside of MD, right? Many of them pack up all there accessories and leave them packed for the shows. If I recall correctly, you said the box was not out like it was for sale. We are all on the same team and calling something out like that, especially when it is questionable, is not cool.

you recall wrong. what i saw was a gsg mag box with the 22rnd box checked it was out on the table under the glass with a $40price tag right in the middle of his 4 tables
with eotech's and other mags. he was a md based dealer....so if he does travel with shows he ought to know the laws and then he obviously covered it up and left it out for sale with all the boxes checked and the box on its side to hide that. now i did not take it out of the showcase or box to actually verify it didn't have the blocks in it but C"MON NOW:rolleyes:

what if you bought it and there was LE standing next to you??? you'd both be pretty screwed correct?

my post was to let everyone know incase they wanted to chance it;)
you call it a call out.... i call it a lookout:thumbsup:

Consider the alternative- if the prices are reasonable, I usually spend 500 or so. Today the prices were not so I spent around 60. Tell me what is better, selling product at a lower profit or not selling product at a higher profit. I dont mind a little markup but I saw 762x54 for double what I paid for it and can still pay for it, for example. When you have tables blatantly trying to rape us, it turns some of us off from the whole show.

What did they want for the Mosin ammo and was it surplus or commercial?
I can see the problems here coming out of the multiple competing shows. This sort of thing probably started up here in the 1980's, I'm guessing. I recall before about 1980, when I lived in Nashville, there was one BIG show by the Tenn. Gun Collectors Assn. each year. I don't know how big Chantilly is, but I'm guessing it was comparable. There were dealers from all over back when. During the 80's you had the influx of quarterly commercial shows,Bill Goodman and Bob Pope Shows [Nashville], which dilluted the market. Then you had the home FFL dealers pushed out of the market over the last few years. As shows declined and prices shot up, you had more of the beef jerky dealers. Couple that with the price of gas and table cost and you have more dealer overhead. Back in the old days C&R was reasonable enough that you could normally afford to bring at least one gun home. Even ammo has gone up. I remember the old Silverado shows at Frederick and Gaithersburg. They were not as big as the old Nashville Show, but you still had fairly reasonable prices and some variety. I was getting reports of one of the shows around Nashville on another board and the prices are comparable to Maryland.

From someone who had a FS2K..Get a nice AR-15 or a Sig 556. Something you can buy spare parts for.

It was surplus ammo and double what AIM is charging for it.

They have had good shows at Timonium before, don't get me wrong, but this wasn't one of them.

You would think a gun show will be full of guns, it turned out there is more crap than guns. Definitely not 600 tables. Very disappointed.

    Where are the good shows?

    They don't make the FS2000 in 5.7

I went with several possible purchases in mind.

First was an AK. The prices on the WASR-10s ($519 without mag) were actually reasonable for retail. But I live in Deep Southern Maryland (that means that Waldorf is a 40-min drive up the north road), so Mt. Airy is a LONG drive to pick up the rifle.

Second was 20-round PMAGs. None to be had at any price.

Third was an MSAR 556. There was one for sale...and at $2K out the door for a late-model gun, the price was not that unreasonable. But it just does not handle that well. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I'll hold out for a Bushmaster ACR (Magpul Masada) or an FN SCAR-L when the normal production run hits the streets. Or a Sig 556 Classic.

Fourth was a high-end target pistol, if anything was to be seen. No soap, but that didn't surprise me. That's always a very long shot.

I usually leave a gun show with something...mags, ammo, books...something. But this time, I just snagged an Uzi stock.

Ah, well. More money for the Antique Gun Show. Which is where I can drop some BIG money, having a passion for cased duelling pistols.

Glad I saved my money and time by not going. I understand the need for support, but this is abuse, plain and simple.

The show I went to back in the fall was just sad. I found 13 round XD .45 mags for $35! I can actually save $2 getting them from Springfield Armory's website...buying ONE AT A TIME....paying shipping on EACH INDIVIDUAL MAG ($26 per with ground shipping as $7).

And that was just after Springfield did a 20% off sale. Its insane - and selfish.

Overall I was pretty disappointed with the show, although the friend I went with thought it was ok. Then again, he goes more for the knives than the guns and there were a lot of tables with those.

For the most part I saw a lot of overpriced guns, overpriced ammo and a lot of low quality crap when it came to knives and that sort of thing. As for why I went - primers and powder - I saw none of that at all. It was also very crowded during peak hours on Saturday - so much that it was a bit unpleasant and half the time I felt like a salmon trying to make its way upstream.

I'll go to the Antique Arms show coming up in a couple of months, but the gun shows here in Maryland seem to be a bust. I'll give them a couple more chances, but otherwise I'll support my local businesses such as Bart's Sports World right here in Glen Burnie.

they're also adding to it with their signs on the rifles that say "get em while you still can, before they are gone forever":sad20:

    haha, yeah that was everywhere!

Hey where is the antique gun show?

also im glad i saved my money as a lady i work with has her fathers guns stashed in a attic at their old house, she keeps telling me there is alot, but she doesnt even know what they are and today she said dont worry she will get up to the old place and let me know.. Im gonna try to buy the whole lot depending on what there are and she wants. All i know at this point is from what she described there are rifle, single barrel shotguns and double barrels and some handguns. My moms Bf is probably going to go in with me on them, but well see..
