+1. If the 4CA upholds Leggs decision, it's the law of the land till overturned by the SCOTUS.

The only way a 9CA case would be related would be if MD were granted cert by SCOTUS and it would impact a 9CA case or if the 9CA had a case that created a circuit split. No idea if such a case exists in the 9CA now. The legal eagles can chime in if they want.

Other than that-not much relationship to speak of.

I couldn't find the phone number, and didn't want to the chance of someone having an attitude on the phone with me, so I decided to send an email about my address change. Surprising enough I received an email back within an hour and stated: "Your address has been changed in your records." no signature or record of who sent it... but at least I know it was read and SOMEONE replied.
I know police are trained to be short and authoritative on the streets, but especially in the licensing division, I think they could use some customer service training.

There's one trooper I email from time to time. I think he is one of the superiors of the handgun section. He has always been very nice and helpful when I talk to him on the phone. His emails are very helpful as well, and but VERY short and to the point.

    Thanks. I'll try calling today.

Make absolutely sure they change your address on file. Same thing happened to me, I turned in my permit and before I went in for my interview I had moved. I TOLD them my new address, the lady wrote it down...but guess where they sent my permit? Thats right, my OLD address. Thankfully my old address was a co-worker of mine that I was renting from so going and picking it up was no big deal, even though I had no idea it was sitting at my old address for 2 weeks.

Maybe drblast33 should give it 2-3 weeks and then send a follow up email saying how you know how busy they are but you wanted to insure the new address was updated because it is very important to you.

A friend was saying that the references aren't required anymore either? did i miss something??

Patrick mentioned the MSP are or will be working to streamline the app processes. But to date nothing has changed other then G&S. Maybe if this is here to stay things like references may change one day, but as it stands now you still need them, along with everything else that was always needed.

I/we, say G&S is no longer needed. That is not true. G&S has just been redefine. G&S now means the existence of the 2A is all the G&S you need.
    2A is our G&S

I'm a VA resident, but work in MD. I asked in another thread if I was allowed to file and was told yes. I just talked to a buddy and he said that he didn't think so since they didn't offer a non-resident permit.

    What do you guys think?

You guys need friends who are better informed. Come here first. Inform friends later.

(I'm guilty of it also. Some of my friends are... nice guys to have a beer with.)

Actually, to be picky about it, no. The decision from Legg struck the clause which contained the G&S requirement, so it is not needed, period.

Maryland does issue non resident permits.

No, they don't, but there is no requirement to be a resident of the state to get a permit - the law does not specify resident or non-resident at all, so we can all apply for and get the same permit, resident of Maryland or not.
