Yeah, that was their attempt to "show" their prospects on Appeal, saying Moore at District was right, while referring to Judge Legg and MD District as an "outlier"....

No surprises here. A lot of ipse dixit and not much else. Looking forward to Judge Legg's take. Beware the Kool Aid -- this is not in the bag.

So they still haven't figured out how to keep their database in order and to print new non GS permits on pink paper versus white? That would make it way too easy to figure out which permits should be revoked if their appeal wins. Maybe I should apply for the job of permit issuing authority. I could even thrown in temporarry colors like blue for those with LEO ties and red for those with restrictions. I would be the hero of the State and could get one of them raises and bonuses they give out with our tax money.

You would be stabbed in the back by your unionized coworkers at every turn for making them look bad! :lol2:

This is why Gura doesn't make a 2A case into a statistics battle -- because the anti-gunners will just say "nu-uh" and provide more bull. I understand full well that this is what the Judge asked for, and I understand why he asked for it. I still believe that this shows why Gura doesn't even bring up statistics, even though we know that the stats are on our side.

BTW, I'm still laughing about MD using the Zimmerman case, that was priceless.

Well, now I'll start waiting for the Judge. I'm mentally prepared for a long wait, and I'm also mentally prepared for him granting the stay. (In his eyes, he doesn't care about us, so the status quo may be acceptable for a while longer. I'm hoping for the opposite, especially after the questions he asked of each party and the State's weak performance.)

MD can see more clearly that the other 40+ "Shall Issue" states? MD's wisdom is superior? What is needed is to get with the program. Yes, change requires effort and work, but the other states have done it. You can too. "southern71" can show you how!

My app is in pre stay and I truly NEED to believe that the stay is denied. However, although I'm a simple layman this argument looks persuasive to me, particularly in that overturning a states request is a big deal.
I hate to have a sleepless night but think that Judge Legg may lean toward giving the state the benefit of the doubt and maintain the stay.

I understand the wistful thinking of those who think this is a useless document...I just can't see it in that way.

Let's see 268 killings by permits holders. Fair to assume that at least some were justifiable ( self defense) but let's assume all were illegal. How many millions of permit holders are there? Basic rule for proper use of statistics: give both the raw numbers AND percentages Gura did both, the state did not. Speaks volumes

You got to think of it this way.

What harm would be done if the stay was lifted? The state issues permits. Law abding folk do nothing (except for saving their own skin).

What harm would be done if the stay was continued? citizens rights would continue to denied by a tyrannical regime (people die waiting for the police).

Wow, reading that was like reading a paper written by a kid trying to convince his dad to let him eat a candy bar for dinner because the milk in it makes it healthy...

What happens to pre stay apps if Maryland gets to keep the stay? Do we just wait for our 90 days?

I have to say I was a little lost not knowing much about other cases but the talk about statistics.... and how they were not good.... this comes from a man who used news paper articles for statistics????

What I came away with is, Gura and company can't use statistics to refute our statistics because Gura's Stats are flawed. Oh and by the way, here are some more of our statistics without the raw data for you to take as gospel....

    Yea, right.....

The first request for a stay was written by amateurs. (It looked amateurish to this non-lawyer.)

This one looks like it was written by a professional.

But the argument is still weak.
