Yea..and the interesting part of this is...last time I played around with numbers, Maryland's Pop. was around 5.7 Million (higher now I think) and the number of gun owners was about 2 Million...that's was about 35%. (probably higher now)

If all the guns owners were on top of things, we would have no problem...even if half of the Gun owners in Maryland really gave a Dang, we would be carrying as I type this.

Maybe I'll start researching the numbers again, just to see where we really are.......

Apathy folks, just plain ole fashion apathy......We need a good ole fashion grass roots uprising, a Civil Rights march on Annapolis..and soon

I hear what you are saying but whether its 100 supporters in Annapolis or 100,000 Brian Frosh doesn't give a rats ass and will still desk drawer veto the gun bills.
I think getting him out of office should become a higher priority.

I think a transcript of todays hearing needs to find its way to Allan Gura and let him submit it as evidence in the Wollard case. Clearly the state knows that this whole G&S clause is total B.S. Hell, they flat out admitted that they can't even define G&S, but it's at the core of whether you get a CCW or not. MD is crazy...

Any guesses on how many members in the house and senate possess either a MD CCW permit or an out of state one?

I don't know, I have good feeling about smeigel's bill for carry.

It's because of the Wollard suit, the state will not want to give up control. I would prefer the courts smack the state silly though (because it's a right, not a privilege).

    Another vote for 'smack silly'

Maybe Judge Legg is giving them a tiny bit of rope? I'll bet his decision is written and placed in a mayo jar on the steps of the State House.

The legislators, MOM and MSP will FUBAR it all up to where it is not even recognized as Shall Issue, in any way shape or form. The fix is in.

Even if there are 3 mil gun owners in MD, that doesn't mean all 3 mil of them have any desire to CCW.

... and It's not always an apathy problem, some people are just plain tired of MD politics and are moving to other states,.... where you at least have a fighting chance of making a real difference...

... and to be clear, I'm not in any way belittling the efforts of these fine people, it's fantastic and I applaud their efforts. For those who continue to posses the energy and resolve for this battle, I stand in awe of you guys, and I truly mean that.

Holy schit, the MSP really doesn't have opposition then........???????

    WTF???

I feel for the Lt that was testifying... As Dwyer commented, he was put in a tough position.

    But, that said...

How the Commander of the Licensing Division isn't able to answer questions regarding the justification of the current system is beyond me. He may have been among OUR best witnesses.

Who says we don't have a fighting chance? MD is on the frontlines for a reason. It's an uphill battle, but we, the good guys, HAVE to stay on the offensive -- give up, and the fight will follow you. Our ancestors fought, killed, and died to buy us just a little liberty, and it's because of them that our version of "fighting for our rights" can be done with a keyboard or a pen. Maryland's liberty was worth bleeding to death at Long Island for, and it still is. Writing a letter or handing out a flyer is nothing, absolutely nothing, compared to what we ought to be willing to do.

Just got home ... As soon as get some dinner, I'll write up some feet-on-the-street anecdotes from us Sandwich boarders.

One comment on the HB 45 et al bills ...

Norton and Del Smigel 'bookended' the whole process. Between The opening volley against Conaway and the closing roll-call of LEOs with assault charges, the day was well worth my time.

Kudos to everyone who took the time to be there, and especially the 30+ (by my count) who testified for versus the 2 MSPs who did the Governors bidding by allowing themselves to be raked over the coals by at least 10 of the delegates.

Will it go anywhere, your guess is as good as mine, but it was an experience I'm glad I didn't miss.

    More later ...

I see Dreamer from OCDO testified. He WAS a member of Mensa according to him.

    wow.

    :sad20:

Fixed the comment... I thought the distinction was worth pointing out.

I spoke with him after the first round was complete.

He's exactly "who I thought he was"... and that's not necessarily a bad thing, but it did enlighten me a bit.

He admitted to being compulsive about his research, and that he will speak his mind, regardless. The fact that he will say things in an unpopular way makes things interesting, to say the least.

I do give him credit for still wanting to fight with us rather than just say screw it... I don't see him curbing his shoot-from-the-lip nature. But, I found him pleasant and bright... just highly opinionated!!
