Rather than worrying about abstract speculation about what >could< happen, y'all would be better served to pay attention to the realities that are facing you right now in the Maryland General Assembly.

A gun registration bill popped up in the last 36 hours and there's plenty of other bills to worry about as well.

There's something you can actually do about those bills as opposed to what Obama may or may not do a year from now.

^^ This, pay attenton to the here and now!

The more fear that gets drummed up the more guns, primers, ammo,,,,,,, will sky rocket in price and disappear off the shelves. How many people have heard, "If it looks like Obummer is getting back in stock up quick before the mad rush" ?
Think about who stands to benefit from all the fear?

On a side note; you guys need to stop talking about horses. You know what happens. :ohnoes:
As for the main subject, I figured that would be his plan from the beginning. He didn't want to make a big deal of it right away. Maybe it was so he could have a better chance at a second term. If he gets reelected I expect him to really show his agenda, gun control being a main point.

We'll see baby steps on the federal front I believe.

They lost to much in 94 with the AWB and I doubt they'll drum up something that heavy right away.

To attack 2A I believe it's better to think like a Muslim terrorist. "They have the watches but we have the time".

I believe the reason Obama was inactive on gun control in his first term is that he wanted to get reelected and he didn't want to hurt democratic standing in the house and senate.

The reelection reason will be gone in a second term. But as long as the house is republican there should be very little gun control passed. The real danger lies in who might get appointed to the Supreme Court in a second term.

Romney might be preferable to Obama on this, but I am not entirely sure. A Mass. Republican isn't much different than a democrat.

We this may get me zinged but that was an ignorant article. it was one man's opinion turned into "news". ...Of course Mr. LaPierre says this....its his job to! he can't go around and tell America a sitting Democrat is not going to take their guns. That could hurt recruitment! He cannot point out that a ton of the Dems in congress are gun lovers and would never allow our guns to get taken away. He can't alienate his political allies and especially not the industry leaders that send him kick backs every time an article by him scares the prices of ammo, guns, primers, etc...through the roof!(i had to add a little of my own tin hat to this thread too :) ).

Give me an article that shows ACTUAL movement by the government to take my guns. Actual movement that has a chance in heck of passing. Do not send me state moves as i do not disagree that some state idiots are running rough shod over our 2A rights. Stop posting faux news to get everyone fired up.

As for the comments about "Libtards".....Well...just remember that us middle of the road voters will determine the future of the nation. I may be more liberal on some issues and more conservative on others but i am an ally in the fight for gun rights and you are a fool to alienate those like me.

Norton's comment is right on. We have enough to worry about here in the PRofMD. But, as this state goes, so does the country, especially when you have 2nd term liberal-left heads-of-state with agendas ... Just look at the number of ill-conceived, and anti-2A bills that have been brought forward this session, and all probabaly introduced, or at least encouraged at Owe'Malleys behest.

It's no secret that Obamarx would like to 'curtail' 2A, so LaPierre's comments, while self-serving, aren't that far off of the mark. Harking back to The One's 2008 comment, "clinging to their guns and religion', and putting it in the context of today's kerfuffle with 1A, could 2A be too far off if he gets re-elected ?

    Food for thought ... :sign01:

It would make perfect sense for Obamarx to do this. Why do you think most of Obamacare does'nt start till next year? He had to put off the real damage till after he gets reelected with billions going to ACORN or whatever they call themselves to make shure every dead, illegal, pet, child, and Disney character gets out to vote for Obamarx. The ground work is laid. He has the authority to round up and imprison anyone he wants to without charge. He has sloshed trillions aside for any contingencies and a media willing to villify anyone who gets in his way. We ARE one justice away from essentially nullifying the Constitution in actuality. Currently the SCOTUS has been unwilling to accept any case that would result in any meaningfull decision regarding our God Given Rights. We see how genuinely effective Heller amd MacDonald have been.(what a joke) I hope they lump the registration bill in with the other gun bills but it would be like them to make us take another day off to come testify.

"These guns ("assault weapons") are not made for recreation or self-defense." "They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

Well, he is technically right about that. Although they can be used for recreational shooting, self defense or hunting, their real purpose is to project lethality. To provide a means to kill those which are a danger - either to an individual Citizen or to a Nation as a whole.

Just like every other firearm in history.

And I am comfortable with that.

I have a several fire extinguishers placed throughout my home. They are there for suppressing fires, because fires are dangerous and destructive.

I own guns because tyranny is even more dangerous and destructive than fire.

I don't have a problem with that line of thought at all. I, like many others, feel it in my bones.

Maybe Bill Whittle needs to 'school' him ...

Well, Duh !!! But, just because something is fun and scares away weenies doesn't mean that it's stupid.

What if Romney is on the other side of the ticket, however?

Mitt Romney as MA governor in 2004 regarding a bill he had just signed into law for a semi-automatic rifle ban: "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts." "These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense." "They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

    More gems:
"We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts. I support them. I won’t chip away at them." "I believe they help protect us and provide for our safety."

The ban list includes the AR-15 and AK-47. No collapsible or folding stocks. No bayonet lug. No removable flash suppressor. New mags limited to 10 rounds. Makes Maryland seem like heaven by comparison.

Yep, Mittens is every 2A supporters best friend. Not.

If you look closely at Mittens political record, he's a dead ringer for O'Malley in many ways. Like twins separated at birth.

Again, no new president will touch guns on their first term. We need to unite against whoever is going against the current prez. So we can vote for principles but we might just end up throwing votes away and we're screwed for 4 years.

I want Ron Paul. It's not going to happen. We need to minimize the damage by voting out the current and waiting till 2016 until someone that's decent runs.
