I just need a "Yugo AK" rail right?

    Yes.

    That tapco one wont fit.

UTG makes 2 yugo models that are cheap, but supposedly the newer "pro" models are US made. You would be the guinea pig on their quality.

Midwest industries is the other option.

If you just want to mount a red dot, ultimak makes a nice gas tube mount thats rock solid, and they have a yugo specific model.

Dustcover mounts are a no go on the yugo, the yugo cover is longer than standard, and drilled for that extra latch button i think.

I want to mount a vertical foregrip, red dot and possibly laser pointer and flashlight later on. So I need a quad rail. Is Midwest my only quality option?

I thought someone else made a decent set too, but i can find them right now.

My last yugo ak had a picture of Luke Perry from 90210 on the handguards.

edit to add: It was samson mfg, and i dont think they have a yugo model anymore.

Alright, so...here's how the weekend went:

The sight held up jut fine, and kept zero, even with a couple hundred rounds shot. The recoil is in between a 20 gauge shotgun, and an AR. The weapon is VERY accurate. I shot silver dollar sized groupings. I highly recommend this rifle.

Well it looks like the rail on the dust cover is failing to keep zero after today's trip to Hap Baker.

    1. I need a dust cover without a rail. Can someone show me a CHEAP option?
    2. I need a cheap quad rail to fit the Zastava PAP on the foregrip.

Doesn't come off, it's welded to the cover.

There's nothing side mount or anything. The only rail is on the dust cover. I need something to mount to the foregrip, and a stock dust cover with no rail.

I just looked the gun up online, and it does look like there is no side mount, andthe rail is permanently mounted to the cover. On the cheap; Maybe try an AK buffer, and spray the cover under the rail with some hi temp rubberized undercoating or liquid dynamat to help absorb/deaden the shock of the recoil on the scope. Just a cheap idear.

Eh, that's an idea. I want a vertical foregrip though, so better to kill two birds with one stone with the quad rail.

Got my UTG quad rails, and tac grip, finally. How do I disconnect the top grip from the gas tube? Twisting doesn't do anything, it's stuck or something.

twist harder....its suppose to come off but you may need some elbow grease

Oh trust me. I'm using elbow grease. I have a vice grip and I have the foregrip wrapped in a towel. It starts to move, but stops from being caught on something. Looks like 922r strikes again.

So, do all gas tubes fit all AK rifles? Looks like I have to get one without a handguard.

just a thought...if you're going to be removing and not using the handguard thats on the gas tube...but its being a little bitch and not coming off (which they cant be hard sometimes)...why not just cut it in half and relieve the pressure and then take it off?...just a thought...
