So I will be turning 21 in under a month, and when I get back into the country at the end of August, I plan on buying a glock, either a 17 or 19. I was wondering where the best/cheapest place to buy one would be. I have a military ID, so I am not limited in that regard. I have been looking at the Cop Shop in Baltimore, but if anyone has any better ideas, I would love to hear it.

    Thanks

Cop Shop is a GSSF affiliated shop and they give the LEO/Mil discount. You're probably not going to find them cheaper anywhere else as they can offer a sale price below what other shop's pay in cost.

Be prepared to deal with some hassle though. I went in there and literally said (I mean literally) "I have cash and I want a Glock 17 Gen4, I am ready for the paperwork right now." Somehow it still prompted a sales pitch including "if you're not ready I will put this aside and let you shop around, we have a lowest prices!" I was really confused how my words could be confused and prompt any other response than grabbing the paperwork... I was also offered an even deeper discount if I traded in a pistol, not nearly enough to be remotely enticing.

Anything other than a Glock I prefer Gun Connection though, great shop!

I got one of my Glocks through the Cop Shop and it was a very smooth transaction. As far as cheapest: use your GSSF membership to shoot in a GSSF match and WIN a new Glock. That was the cheapest for me.

Buying through GSSF is definitely the best route. I bought a G34, G19c and a G26 through the program at The Cop Shop. At the time they were the only GSSF supporting dealer in MD.

As of May 1, 2011 they made some changes to the program:

GSSF Members eligible for the Discount Purchase Program:
    - Current members with more than 12 months (1 year) consecutive time as a
GSSF member and in possession of the new double-card membership form.
    - New ‘multi-year’ members (2 Year, 3 Year, 5 Year and Lifetime members) in
possession of the new double-card membership form.

GSSF Members NOT eligible for the discount purchase program:
    - New Annual (1 Year) members with less than 12 months with GSSF
    - New Annual Family Membership members with less than 1 year with GSSF.

No person can purchase any type new GSSF membership and then instantly purchase a pistol on this program. Dealers will not be able to take GSSF Membership fees, complete the membership paperwork and sell a discounted pistol in one transaction.

All membership cards will be approved and issued by GSSF staff only.

All members purchasing a pistol under this program must present to the dealer a new-style Membership Card marked as ‘GSSF Pistol Purchase Coupon’ that the dealer will then attach to the Form 4473 and retain for their records.

Become a Glock Armorer and you can buy an additional 2 Glocks per year at LE pricing.

Buy one used online and have it transfered to a friendly FFL. New ones are way over priced in most places around MD.

edit: Try Duffy's Gun Room. Last time I was there (around april) they had a good slection of glocks for what I remember as good prices

If it's gotta be a new Glock, the Cop Shop is the best that you're going to get.

Used, there are other options. Lou at Shooters Discount carries police trade-ins at just about the lowest prices I've seen anywhere and Gun Connection has a decent selection of used guns if you're looking for something a little shinier than a trade-in.

However, Glock's Mil/LE program is priced at about the same as many stores sell their used Glocks and they come with three magazines and some accessories. Yeah, Glocks are expensive in MD, but I've never paid full price.

So basically, since I have not been a member for a year, I cannot buy a Glock at the Cop Shop... for at least a year? Or am I reading this wrong? Originally, you could become a member, and then buy the gun right away, right?

You read it correctly. No more buying a 1 yr membership and immediately buying a glock. If you purchase a multi-year membership you can buy one as soon as you get the double membership card.

If you were a member prior to May 1st you might be grandfathered in and can purchase one. I would call GSSF to confirm.

As far as I know that is correct. I am not positive but I think LE and GSSF prices may be close enough that you would be better off saving the GSSF $ and just using the LE discount. Unless of course you like the other benefits of being a GSSF member.

We also have the LE/Mil program. We are an authorized shop working with the cop shop. Our prices are $20 higher than the cop shop. We have to cover the shipping from the cop shop to us. We actually get these guns from the cop shop. They are the only ones authorized by Glock to get this program. Sam has choose a couple shops around the state to work with him to make these guns more available to everyone. So if not having to deal with city traffic and parking is worth $20 bucks to you, we would be happy to help you. If you want to save $20 you can go straight to Sam at the cop shop.

Can't comment on The Cop SHop, I've never been there. I know Mark at 2A Sales in Jessup has/had quite a few Glocks with what I thought were pretty good prices on them. He gives military discounts as well, according to his IP page here. I've bought many guns from him, and you won't find better service IMO.

Well thank you for your honesty. I will have to think about it some more, since I live in MoCo, driving to Essex might take longer, with parking and everything, I will just have to think about it. Thank you
