I've got two Ruger MkII's with scopes one is a 10" bull barrel with a Leupold scope(will double check model and update later); the other is a 6" tapered barrel with a Tasco ProPoint 1x26mm. I wind up shooting the one with the Tasco more often because its much easier to acquire and stay on target. The Leupold is accurate at much greater distance but is really tough to shoot without a rest because of the extra weight.
For a plinking 22 there are several for under $100 that will let you plink at 100yds. If you are looking at unlimited class competition you will want Leopold or better. Check Midway, Natchez or Cheaper than Dirt or most any site/catalog for options.
I have a Bushnell on my 22/45
I enjoy shooting it, though it is a bit different than shooting with sights. Takes a little to get used to it. I have an identical scope that I've been meaning to post for sale in the classified section here.
