Sabotaged the deal, and spurned every effort to work things out.
I'm extremely disappointed in how things went with the deal I tried to broker with Tim. I made every effort to work out details and meet the guy halfway, but all of a sudden he started spurning my efforts to work out details.
I was willing to drive over an hour to Bel Air to meet him as he requested at the Bel Air MSP barracks. He made no attempt to compromise on that stating that "part of the deal was to meet at the Bel Air State Police Barracks." Not exactly what it says in the text of the add.
The disagreement started when it came to the wait time. The law states that on a private sale the seller only has to hold the firearm for 7 days. I was more than willing to take the extra trips to Bel Air to finalize paperwork when it finally came back so that I could take possession on the 8th day, as per the law for private sales of regulated firearms.
This was when he started to sabotage the deal.
I made every effort to assuage and ally his fears that I'm an honest, law abiding citizen in good standing who had just taken possession of a H&K USP in late March, and even offered to show him the paperwork. His reply was that I could have forged it, just to get his gun. Really? His attitude bordered on the paranoid, and at one point he suggested that I pay in full the day of the initial paperwork submittal, and continued on about how he was taking all the risk - at that point I'd be the one with no money and no gun, so how is he risking anything?
I gave him my phone number several times throughout the exchange and practically begged the guy to call me so that we could actually speak and discuss the matter. He never once attempted to call me, and in the end his messages went from surly, to rude, to flat out ignorant. I'll be more than happy to provide that chain of message exchanges for anyone who wants to see them for themselves - I've saved them external to the site. PM me if you want to read it and you can be the judge.
This was an awful experience all around and I'd be extremely wary of ever dealing with this guy through the classifieds.
