I'm thinking I will use some of the slower time at Christmas to start writing to my MD legislators.

    Something along the lines of:

I was very disappointed by SB281 and its burden on law-abiding MD gun owners. I testified several times and I will do so again. I will be there on 4 February and as often as it takes. I will watch how you vote.

Rights of gun owners are one of my biggest issues, but I also believe MD needs to cut spending and reduce taxes on an over-taxed middle class.

I think it's time to start putting the bums* on notice!

*My district is well represented by folks like Cathy Vitale. I'm thinking of emails to everyone with special notes to my folks.

Two things. Add unconstitutional as much as possible detail your specific gripes about any and all laws.
Another thing is, is the price of freedom worth 44¢ to you? Mailing a physical letter clogs up the pipes even of only a little bit as they must be addressed individually.

Write, call, visit and testify or we will lose more or our rights.

Will do. My delegate and senator were co-sponsors of 281. I don't think either one of them had a clue what was in the bill. They believe that guns are evil, rain tax is good, the death penalty needed to be repealed to protect murderers and the transportation fund had to put the lion share of funding towards mass transit, (even though only 13% of Marylanders use it), to force us out of our cars to save the environment. Social engineering and government control of every aspect of our lives is the mantra of the politicians from the majority party in our state. We have to get involved. Let them know that there are people out there other than Socialist moon bats. If you haven't yet registered to vote, please do so!

Politics and staying in touch with your elected officials is a year round activity. There is absolutely no reason to stop writing, calling, or e-mailing your elected representatives just because the legislative session is over.

I write to my reps on a biweekly/monthly basis.

I very rarely even get responses from them. Not to say it is a waste of time but I wouldn't expect too much. We need to hit them hard in person. 2A Tuesday is when we start. Make sure you are there.

    Fantastic to hear!!

This is the first tool any of us have to prepare for the session.

While 2A is OUR concern, there are many other issues we (and anyone else) can take on.

So, if you know someone who may not be as interested in 2A, they will almost certainly have problems with taxes, tolls, the Wind Farm Follies, business regulation... ANYTHING.

Regardless of the isssues, they need to be bombarded by the populace.

    Hard in person? Absolutely!!!

But, as for when? ANY time is good! Make appointments to meet them in their local offices. Drop in as often as you can in Annapolis througouyt the session. If they see people coming in once the session starts, they will take notice. 2AT will be the kicker.

You'll probably get back a prefabricated letter, that is the same letter everyone else gets who does the same.

At this point, its shoveling shit against the tide.

Thank you for your input, but if we don't write, call, e-mail, etc. then they assume we are content and have gone away.

I presume by your alias that you are out in Western MD and do not have the idiots representing you that those of us in PG, MoCo, HoCo, etc. have.

If you like what your elected officials are doing, then write them and tell them that as well.
