New to the entire AR scene. Do they make a picatinny mount for a standard 1" scope? I have Magpul iron sites on a flattop ar15 right now and looking to add a scope for longer range ground hog sniping. but I want to be able to flip the scope out of the way if it get banged or to shoot something close with the iron sights.

I am guessing they don't make "shoot though" scope rings that are high enough to the irons sights to sight through?

The other option is 45 degree offset sights.

But good scopes can resist a good bit of knocking around. This is no longer the 60s. :)

OK, not a swing to the side, but and easy to remove if it lost zeroing or was broken. Anyone used these yet? Seems like a easy to use setup and they say you can remove the scope while traveling and reset it to hunt.

Amazon reviews say they are too low for an AR15 flattop. Anyone know of taller ones?

I have not had a problem taking off and reinstalling using the Burris PEPR mount. The new ones are quick detach, which should help you out in this type of situation. If I had the money, I'd have a small red dot on an angled mount instead.

Heck, my normal mounts are pretty much on zero when removing and replacing the scope.

Bedded 20 MOA rail and Burris XTR mounts, using a torque wrench to install.

Who has a scope mount and backup sight on theirs?

I am looking at the UTG mounts at high and they only give a clearance of 1" from the bottom of the scope mount. Even with the Magpul MBUS flattened out I think the scope flair at the back will hit it.
