Springfield Armory's specs for this rifle's barrel say "22”, 6 Groove, 1:10 Right Hand Twist, Stainless Steel, Douglas Premium Air Gauged Custom Heavy Match."

Does the "heavy" part make this gun an HBAR and hence unregulated?

Why does the list have" Bushmaster semi-auto rifle" but does not say except H-bar, it does for Colt?

Because a$$hats who knew nothing about guns sat around watching movies to create the list...

If the Internet was available then I'm sure the list would have included Photon Torpedos, Rail Guns, EMP Mega Blasters, and half of Will Smith's Arsenal from Men In Black.

Because when the list was made (back in 1994) there were no other HBAR other then the Colt.

But the whole section is covered by the language about imitations and copies.

    Back in MD sadly
The Bushmaster semi-auto they are referring to is the unsuccessful M17s. You can still find some pop up on Gunbroker from time to time. More of an odd collector's piece than a dedicated shooter.

And just like in Bushmaster's nature they bought this design from a "small" Australian company called Armstech like they bought the ACR from Magpul. History or business practice repeats itself.

Hmm didn't Colt do that with a popular rifle?

It doesn't have to make sense when libs write the laws. You will drive yourself nuts trying to make logic of it.

They left photon torpedos off the list?

    Foolish oversight.

I'm gonna go buy me some before they realize their blunder.

The reason it is on the list, was that it was on the Federal list of bad guns. MD just used the Fed list.

M1A made it because of the number of bad features. Springfield immediately started making them without the bayonet lug and they were fine.

And how many people have been bayonetted?

The AR lost the flash hider/bayonet mount and also were OK to sell. And funny thing, they are more accurate WITHOUT the flash hider. The Military marksmanship teams petitioned to be allowed to remove the flash hider from their match guns, the difference was that great.
