    How does this work now-adays?

If I wanted to transfer a pistol to my father, or brother what's the process?

So far from what I've gathered - he would need a HQL (Fingerprinting + HQL Application) but would be exempted from the training per the MDSP FAQ:

    REF: https://www.mdsp.org/Organization/S...ion/Firearms/HandgunQualificationLicense.aspx

"6. Lawfully owns a regulated firearm. If you already own a handgun or assault weapon prior to October 1, 2013, you do not have to complete the training to apply for the Handgun Qualification License."

So basically if the person receiving the regulated firearm had purchased one legally within MD before Oct 1, 2013 then they would be exempt from the training requirements of the HQL?

Thanks for any help here.. Am I reading this right?
