    The SES III contract provides IT services throughout all aspects of the engineering process of the entire space systems arena. We are looking for a Linux System Administrator to support in-house Engineering and Flight Software hosted on high performance systems running RHEL and Ubuntu Linux operating systems. The candidate will be trained to run inhouse applications such as Freespace and will be responsible for deployment, patching, system reliability and performance monitoring.
    This job is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and will work on the Lab IT Services Team supporting the On-orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (OSAM-1) project.
    Perform hands on technical duties with Windows and Linux servers /desktops
    Respond to trouble tickets for troubleshooting software, hardware, and networking issues.
    Provide computer systems administration including networking, system baselining, system backup and recovery, patch management and service monitoring.
    Perform system maintenance and software deployments in a Windows/Linux environment.
    Configure IT hardware, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with our standards and project requirements.
    Install and maintain monthly security patches as required.
    Develop and maintain thorough documentation of installation, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.

    EDUCATION:
    BA/BS or higher preferred, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Software Engineering or other related disciplines or equivalent experience.

    EXPERIENCE:
    3+ years of experience with Linux systems administration (Ubuntu preferred).
    2+ years of experience with configuration management tools (Ansible preferred).
    Experienced with various server types (web, file, license, application, etc.)
    Experienced with Ubuntu-based Linux distributions.
    Experience with the network environment at Goddard Space Flight Center.
    Familiarity with compliance requirements of the NIST FIPS/FISMA or other formal IT Security compliance program.
