I lived in NY during Ghouliani's "Reign" (no pun intended...really)

He is a very bad man who has proven a desire/willingness to violate personal freedoms in order to achieve his objectives/goals.

Do I dispute that he made a real dent in Crime in NY? Nope but I tend to subscribe to the Ben Franklin school of though as per below:

"The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either. " -BF

Well, hate him if you will, but ask yourself if your choice for the republican nomination can beat Hillary.

What's the deal on this Mitt Romney guy ? Other than the Mormon stuff . Any taxachusetts folks out there have the skinny ?

I don't know much about him, but I do know that on certain issues that are important to me he has flip-flopped almost as bad as John "I voted for it before I voted against it" Kerry. For instance, read the following regarding his flip-flop on 2A issues. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/02/19/romney_joined_nra_in_august/

Can he be trusted to renew his membership after he is elected? Who knows with this guy.

I think I am going to wear a pith helmet to the polls with all these RINOs running for the GOP ticket.

Romney has flipped on gun control to become a lot more pro-second. Would he stay there if elected, probably. In any case he's about the only hope out of a lot of bad choices.

Guliani did nothing to reduce crime in NY except back his police commissioners. And he fired one of them when that guy started getting more press than him. He has promised not to install NY's gun laws nationwide if elected, wow that makes me feel good, he's against a complete and total ban.

McCain is another one who gives me the creeps. Yes he should be honored for his military service, no doubt about it. However, if I wanted to vote for a democrat in the primary, I would register as one. Pro-abortion, pro-terrorist rights, and vocally anti-2nd, especially when it comes to "assault rifles." I also don't like how he dumped his wife who stood by him for all the POW years when she got cancer, sure I don't know the whole personal story, none of us does, but still makes me very leery. And last but not least, the dog and pony show he put on for the baseball & steroids issue. I mean yes, steroids are bad in baseball, but we do we really need Senate oversight of MLB when it seems we have quite a few other problems to deal with? What a waste of taxpayer dollars and Senate time that was so he could grab some headlines.

In any case, neither McCain or Gussolini can win the general election against Hillary. Elections are as much or more about energizing your own base as they are about winning over the undecideds. They will not bring out the conservative vote. Think nationwide, unlike here there's a lot of states where people take moral issues very, very seriously. Both in the candidates' stands on issues and in their personal lives.

What really worries me about these two though, is that they can push through a lot of very leftist gun-control legislation and easily get away with it by posing as conservatives. With Hillary people are going to be actively watching and criticizing every move she makes on social issues. Oddly enough, when you look at it that way she may be less of a threat to our rights than the first two.

Romney may or may not not like what he's saying, but at least he is saying it. And he's doing it strongly enough that he would have to follow through with it on some level.

I do think it will be Hillary for the democrats. I believe what she is doing right now is quite clever, actually. (A cunning Clinton, who would've thought? :P ) I think she's letting Obama ride the rock star thing and drown out the other, more electable, moderate democratic candidates. When the time comes she'll either pull the rug out from under his feet with something in his checkered past, or offer him the choice of taking her ticket's VP slot.

    As of today:

    CPAC STRAW POLL RESULTS:
    Mitt Romney 21%
    Rudy Giuliani 17%.
    Sam Brownback 15%
    Newt Gingrich 14%
    John McCain, 12%,

You forgot Ron Paul, Hunter and a few others that I would LIKE to see in office but accept that they haven't a snowballs chance in h311.

The key is to support your IDEAL candidate in the Primaries which will FORCE the eventual primary winner to raise the bar and possibly make commitments to do/not do certain things in order to win over the voters.

I truly believe that the 2A Crowd has the potential to swing the candidates and entire vote of the next election if we can energize them like during Zumbo-gate.

WRT the Dems....I'm of the belief that they are going to burn out early and fizzle to some degree.

The leadership in Congress isn't going to accomplish much and will hopefully have a few issues backfire in their faces in the months leading up to the election. Obama will hopefully fizzle as folks realize that he is a better candidate for American Idol than the POTUS leaving Broom Hilda/Billary as the Dems front runner. If we're lucky folks will realize that these candidates have done nothing as Senators/Reps and the popularity sleigh ride will be over months before the election.

Obama and the American Idol Syndrome scare me....he has little substance and has taken no stance on any issues aside from historical comments. There are a number of issues that are important to me but push comes to shove...I'm a single issue voter (Pro-2A)

On a separate note we need to work towards ending the political career of Mikulski...she's definately the enemy....you would be horrified by her voting record.

I gotta tell you, we'd be better off having Hillary as president rather than someone who can pose as one of us and be in favor of "reasonable gun control". At least with her, there's no doubt about where she stands.

If we want to save ourselves, the presidential election is a lost cause for '08. We need to be looking at the congressional elections if we want to tip the balance back in our favor.

If it comes down to Hildabeast and one of the aforementioned RINOS, I may just have to sit this election out since we probably won't have a 3rd choice here in MD.

I agree with Norton . We're in a lot of trouble if we don't . Funny how the gun control issue has come up with the "RINO" and " Blue Dog Dems" . Traditional americans may still have a little influence . Just based on face value the only two that I would vote for would be Ron Paul or Tancredo .

Voted NO on background checks at gun shows.
Voted YES on more penalties for gun & drug violations.
Voted YES on loosening license & background checks at gun shows.
Voted YES on maintaining current law: guns sold without trigger locks.

I have never heard of Tom Tancredo before, but after reading his Wikipedia entry and his stance on major issues on his website, I'd vote for him. He's no RINO, that's for sure.

    Voting Record
    American Conservative Union A+
National Right to Life Committee A
    National Rifle Association A
    Family Research Council A
    National Taxpayers Union A
    Americans for Better Immigration A+
National Federation of Independent Business A+
National Abortion Rights Action League 0%

I'm sure many will disagree, but that is my kind of dude!

Well, form my sources in the House, Tom Tancredo is a nut job that is good for entertainment purposes only. Take it for what it is worth. Fred Thompson on the other hand, he's the man.
