We just received a batch of the new Sig 556xi Rifles in 5.56 caliber. Priced at $1349.99 + tax. Flash Hider must be removed for MD sale.

Rifle features,
- 3-position adjustable gas piston operating system with rotating bolt
- Swiss-style folding stock with removable cheek riser
- Ambidextrous controls
- Locking flip-up front and rear sights
- Polymer handguard (compatible with Magpul® MOE® accessories)
- Caliber convertible: 5.56 NATO / 7.62 x 39mm / 300 Blk

I heard they did a lot of work to remove weight from the front end.

And, in light of the issue a while back with the 556 needing to be sold as regulated since it was apparently a copy of the 550, this is ok for sale?

It's a New Model. No similarities between the 550/551 models.

Correct. The 556xi diverges even more from the 550 than the 556 did. I don't think you could seriously try to call it a copy at this point. (Also not sure I agree that the MSP licensing division ever really said the 556 was regulated.)

The front end probably feels lighter due to the shortened handguard and gas system.

Supposedly mid year for 7.62x39 and late year for .300blk. Checked one of these out at the Chantilly show this weekend, very cool indeed. Some nice improvements, especially like the new slimmer handguard and redesigned grip.
