Went to a honey hole this morning with my grandfather. Well needless to say I think we made out like bandits As soon as I walked through the door I found a table where an older man had several Milsurp rifles, saw a few other gentlemen scooping up the rifles as they were priced well below value. For example a Finn Tikka 91/30 for $80. Missed that one and a M38 carcano for $60. But I managed to get my hands on the last one, a Type 30 Arisaka rifle, more commonly known as the "hook-safety rifle". Had some issues but for $70 who cares right?
Rifle has a full mum and the finish and bore are in great shape. Also seems to be mechanically sound. However, it is missing numerous screws and other small parts, the stock was sanded to hell and some genius put the front sight on backwards. Seems fixable though and should be a good restoration project/shooter. If anyone has any leads on Type 30 Arisaka parts let me know. Also, Type 30s aren't necessarily my most well known Jap rifles as I've only seen about 2 of them, so if anyone has any info on it, feel free to share. Thanks for looking
