OK, I understand we can submit written testimony. I'm tempted to do just that. Can we mail it in? Have someone else deliver it? And is written-only effective? I may not be able to spend a day up there.

"May I submit written testimony prior to the day of the bill hearing?
Yes. Early submission of testimony is welcomed. Twenty copies may be hand delivered,
    FEDEXED or mailed to:
    Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee
    11 Bladen Street
    2 East Miller Senate Building
    Annapolis, MD 21401
Please make sure the bill number and the position (Support, Support with Amendments
or Opposed) is on the front page of each copy."

Written testimony requirements are found here: http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/pubs-current/current-jpr-faqs.pdf

    (1) Twenty (20) copies in the hands of The Judicial Proceedings Committee staff at 2 East Miller Senate Bldg by 12: Noon, Feb. 6th.

    (2) "Senate Bill 281 Opposed" must be stated on each first (1st) page.

    (3) No plastic covers, binders, or other materials that cannot be recycled (staples?).

Seems to me that 20 single sheets held together by a paper clip should not present a problem, if so the clip can be removed as the material is "handed" to the committee staff.

My guess is your name, address and signature probably should be at the bottom, but I found no requirement.

Many emails posted on this forum would make really good "written testimony." Those of one page, or less, might be specially selected by committee members for reading (probably for the first time). The authors need only add "Senate Bill 281 Opposed" at the top, name, address, signature at the bottom, print same, make 20 copies and hand them to a Committee Staff person.

    Regards
    Jack
