I have an addiction to poker at the Casino - that is only because my 03 FFL has not yet arrived and once it does, I suspect I will have the same problem but with guns too...

...not enough space in the safe or in the budget!
    :lol::lol:

Agree. Not enough space in the house. Soon I need to budget for an armored truck and not a safe. I need 12 more M1 Garands for 2015. I think that meets one gun per month.

Someone mention fast woman?? Humm.. That's an addiction that has severe divorce legal fees and a distribution of assets.

My name is A... an I'm an addict.

I joined what I thought was such a support group. They are called the Hooligans. They are a group of men with a similar problem. As it turns out, they have not helped me with my problem.

That's like asking the lads at the pub whether you have a drinking problem

Kind of similar issues, I'd say. Especially when you start buying from some of the big out of state distributors. I't's somewhat a gamble as to just how nice (or not) a gun you receive when you buy one.

So far, I've done well...plus I've snagged a couple from some fellow MDS'ers. You can usually get to see those before you buy.

My in laws, and various spoil sports, think I have a firearm problem because I do not have an accurate count [around 45, and lots of spare parts] of my modern firearms [see, its not too extreme, I know I have 7 muzzleloaders] but I explained to them that if I had an accurate count that would mean I was obsessed with my precious ones, but no, not me, I am fine, just fine, no problem here.

I do not know about you but the internet makes it so easy to find the ones we love in such quantity and quality ! My obsession started out with collecting 1900 to 1960's semi auto shotguns, then to 1900's to 1960's semi auto hunting rifles, then to semi automatic military clones during the great Federal Gun Grab scare that failed. Now its back to my roots collecting old military firearms U.S. models first. Its like coin collecting but better ! Last acquisition I made is an 1895 Chilean Mauser in 7MM 95% condition but not all matching parts but who cares. Watch out for Obammy's new Surgeon General who thinks firearms are a public safety issue, not the criminals who use them just the firearms, and their law abiding owners...Ah the looney liberal left doing everything back assed wards and wrong ! Imagine Obama , Holder, Pelosi and Reid running a fast food restaurant , well just look at how they run the gov.! What I find funny is that you can pick up crates of high velocity assault rifle ammo in any caliber cheaply yet still cannot find .22 ammo in any quantity and for the previous price . Well If collecting firearms is an addiction then I am indeed a junky!

Told my wife about this thread last night and the OPs concern about purchasing five handguns this year.... she just rolled her eyes and said "I wish". Then she thought about it for a second and said... you did that in January alone didn't you?

Cheers... may 2015 bring everyone joy, peace, prosperity.... and many new toys!

5 guns in one year, that's cute.... :)

    yesssss...... :innocent0

2015 will see a marked downturn in acquisitions at the Mustang ranch unless I win the lottery. That's one way to stop.

... but you gotta start somewhere, and once the addiction truly takes hold of "donw " this will change I'm sure.

However, keep in mind his "mere 5 guns" may be equivalent to a much larger number of "the usual suspect's milsurps" (Stars, Mosin, Toks etc) - I'd bet.

Happy New Year and stay safe tonight !!

I fail to see any problem as long as you still have money for booze, cigarettes, fast woman and cars, all is good.
    • Don't drink very much these days
    • Quit smoking 40 years ago
    • Have an amazing wife
    • Have enough cars and trucks to get to the LGS and the range

However ... I think the amazing wife is starting to keep track. I visited a gun store on our recent vacation and came out smiling ... so she asked why.

"They've got a really nice Canadian Enfield in there!"

    "You've already got an Enfield!"

"Yeah, but not a Long Branch."
I didn't mention that I've got three Enfields.

    (Her eyes rolled.)

    Only 5 guns?

For those of you who think "only 5 guns" be aware that the CHEAPEST was over $1500 and, even now, I can't bear to tell my wife what the most expensive one bit out of our savings.
