I am sworn to uphold the Constitution and I believe in the second amendment.
I will be making no announcement unless there is legislation that is passed. I have already spoken to some members of the Harford County Delegation and other legislators in Annapolis and they are aware of my position.

Subject: STANCE PROTECTION OF 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Dear Sheriff Bane:
I, and many other Harford County residents are very interested in what your stance is concerning the protection of Harford County citizens rights to self-defense. With all the recent hoopla by politicians at the state and federal level, we would like some assurance that, in the event the federal government and/or the state of Maryland passes legislation that is at odds with the U.S. Constitution and/or the Maryland State Constitution, as it relates to the right to keep and bear arms, you will “watch the backs” of the law abiding citizens you were elected to serve. Also, will you be making a public announcement regarding this as many other sheriffs have already done so across the nation?
