UPDATE: I was contacted by the dealer that Ruger set me up with and I was told that Ruger found the issue and feels the Mini is deemed unusable and will be sending me out a brand new 5819. The dealer told me that when It comes in there will be a detailed explanation of what was wrong with the original.

Unusable? Holy crap, that doesn't happen at all with firearms from a statistical standpoint. I'm really curious as to what was wrong with the original one you bought.

I am curious myself. I am very glad my wife and friends talked me into calling Ruger and sending it back rather then trying to figure it out myself. I am sure that the new one will be in this week coming. The dealer Ruger set me up with seem thorough, but a bit slow so hopefully they will call me the day it shows up so I can pick it up.

 Since it worked well initially and now is unrepairable, something really serious and not usually replaced must have cracked.

Post up what was wrong with the first one, after the replacement comes in.

I had an AAC-556 for some time back in the day and it ran like a clock. The only problem was accuracy. In those days, Ruger was putting a 1 in 12 twist barrel on them and the best you could do with M193 ammo was 3 to 4 inches at 100 yards.

Of course it wasn't really meant to shoot at those ranges. :innocent0

    NEWEST UPDATE

Picked up the Replacement Mini today. They just straight up sent out a whole new gun package with all the goodies included and asked for nothing back. No money out of pocket which was great and now have 2 slings, both size sets of scope rings and rails, and now 4 magazines. I was let down with not receiving a letter stating exactly what was wrong with the original. The dealer said Ruger told them there was a crack in the breech/receiver area. That is not the area that I outlined with a marker.

Can't wait to take it out possibly next weekend and shoot some rounds down range.

Well it seems to have worked out for the best. You got a brand new rifle...that I'm sure they went through with a fine tooth comb. Plus you get to keep a few of your goodies. I've been checking out a couple Mini 14's everytime I go to wal mart. They do look like sweet little rifles.

If you buy one, you won't be sorry. I've shoot a Mini-14 and a Mini-30. I love them both, and one day I will have one of each.

I like the Mini so much, I have 2x Mini 14s, and am considering a Mini 30, in each .300 BlackOut and 7.62x39
