Until you see the Iraqi jeem that everyone missed! $325 OTD. Wohoooo!
Ok, he is my newest Addition.. It got here today. Amazing it did not get damaged as the seller did a REALLY poor job of packing!

Nice! I tried to go through this thread to find the picture that I posted when an auction house shipped my Chilean M1895 and my M16 Berthier together in one box without any bubble wrap but (1) I couldn't find it and (2) I got depressed seeing how many "just got it now" pictures I've posted over the last 18 months.
The seller has good feedback.. BUT.. You would think if you spend 600+ on a rifle that it wouldn't come in a box. About 55 tall, 16 wide and 4 deep, surrounded by at most the weekend sales worth of newspaper and only thing on rifle itself was maybe one layer of saranwrap
Congrats brother, that's a great find, crazy nice condition

This thread has got me thinking that I need to buy another service grade M1 Garand.
Holy crap ... that's stunning!!
.
SO this just arrived!
Yay!
Sadly, this is is the rest of it:
Yes, stock cartouche is sanded to nearly nothing, a butt-pad added, and the rear sight has been replaced by a picatinny rail. No cleaning rod. The rail is actually extremely cleverly (though roughly) done, modded to fit in the sight fixture with nearly no modification. HOWEVER, bubs mutilated the upper hand guard to fit the now-extended rail.
Luckily, Numrich had cleaning rods, rear sights, and upper handguards for 1912-61s. I'm not sure what to do about the butt-pad, but I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for a new stock on the electronic bay. Not a big deal since the stock is non-matching.
On the plus side the action works beautifully, and TBH, I got as a fun 7.62x51 shooter, so I don't feel too bad about dropping 275 on it.
Plus, it came with a $30 cheapie red-dot I can put on something and a probs about $30 soft case, so...
I am of the view that a M1912 that has been converted to 7.62 Nato has almost no collector value, so anything else that was done to make it a nice shooter did not hurt its value. Enjoy it as a shooter.
Nope, this was my exact thinking. I know the quality of the Steyr action...and one (and a short one, at that) in 7.62 NATO is impossible for me to pass up.
I cannot abide the rail and handguard butchery, tho. Hence, the Numrichery.
