Gah. Ok. Anyways this maryland shit is confusing. The fact that you have to do/know all this just to buy a piece of metal is so annoying.

More than annoying but possibly a good motivation to get up and do something this election cycle. There are plenty of good candidates out there who need your help.

PLEASE don't call them assault rifles. They are not assault rifles. They are modern sporting rifles.

I agree about not calling them so-called "assault rifles."

But, I'm sorry, the term "modern sporting rifles" is just as artificial and, to my ears, just as silly.

    They're rifles.

If we need to specify what kind, they're "semi-automatic rifles." As opposed to single-shot, or bolt-action.

Fine with me. I think lumping them in with semi-auto rifles is both appropriate and sounds much less dangerous.

Weve been thinking about it, for other reasons, not just the gun laws.

No disrespect intended to you... But, you have asked several times and as many different ways, about how you can build a lower, post 10/01/13. Several folks have responded that it can not legally be done in this state. It is the law and no matter how you try to find a means to get around it... No one in their right mind is going to tell you that it is okay.

Not even while standing on your head in the deep end of an Olympic pool, during a diving meet, with a full electric machine shop.

Maryland left the Union. For COTUS Rights, you must move to America or try to get Maryland back into the Union with the other American states.

Fine with me. I think lumping them in with semi-auto rifles is both appropriate and sounds much less dangerous.

Everyone wants to call things by different names. This due to their proclivities and agenda. I find it much easier to just say "rifle", "pistol", "revolver" or "shotgun"... Or call it by the name/model the manufacturer designated. Those who know what it is will understand and those who don't know may sometimes ask. That opens up dialogue and a chance to educate the ignorant. Without all of the emotional hype driven names or labels that the MSM and other Anti-COTUS Groups want to attach to these inanimate tools of freedom. :D

I also do not usually call it that but for this purpose it seemed like an appropriate use of the term

Gah. Ok. Anyways this maryland shit is confusing. The fact that you have to do/know all this just to buy a piece of metal is so annoying.

Most of the people here have been following and fighting this law for over a year. Now that you are part of this forum you have a lot of reading to do to get caught up. But you don't have to know it all just to buy a piece of metal, instead go to a knowledgeable gun dealer and they will keep you legal. We have a number of good dealers who post to the forum and some are sponsors of the MDS web site. Here is a link to the map of our Industry Partners:

Since you have recently become aware of the Cluster F*** Maryland gun laws are you are probably wondering what you can do to help correct the situation. I would suggest a several pronged approach:

First are you registered to vote and do you vote in every election? Two threads to read:
    http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=147366

    http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=112229

Second join and donate to each of the following who are fighting for your rights:

    Maryland Shall Issue

    Second Amendment Foundation
    http://saf.org/

    National Rifle Association

Third Learn more from the above referenced sites and from:
    http://www.associatedgunclubs.org/legislative.html

    http://www.nraila.org/default.aspx

    http://takebackmd.org/

    http://www.mcrkba.org/

    http://www.msrpa.org/

Finally become politically active, write your legislators and tell them how you feel, find good pro gun politicians to support and donate both money and your time to help them get elected and most important vote in every primary and election and get your friends to do the same.
