As usual, a mass shooting like the one in Charleston brings out the gun rights haters who want to cynically use the blood of the victims to grease the skids for their gun control schemes. One hears and reads claim after nonsensical claim that if only we had less gun rights and fewer guns in the United States the victims would still be alive. Reality tells us something very different.

If not a gun, the Charleston wackjob would have used a bomb, and killed everyone in the place.

The big tragedy is someone didn't get him first.

    Here comes the backlash!!!

Because some wackjob shoots a church full of innocent people not only are people calling for more gun control but also Getting Rid of the Battleflag of Northern Va!!! And from there it just snowballs. Get rid of everything Confederate from flags to statues to renaming parks. People don't understand that a flag is a flag, it is not a symbol of Racism like the Nazi flag. To remove the Confederate flag would be to dishonor the thousands of Confederate soldiers who died for their country and what they believed in. I salute you my brothers. Enough craziness.

What's going to happen when the left finds out that the Department of Veterans Affairs provides grave markers at taxpayer expense for the graves of Confederate soldiers? Watch their heads really explode when they find out what symbol they put on the marker. Watch them totally self destruct when they find out that these markers are in national cemeteries all over the country.

Here's a description from the department's web site:

"A special style is also available to mark the graves of Confederate war dead. These special styles are available in upright marble or granite. To request this special style select the appropriate box in block 11 for upright marble (U) or upright granite (V) and write the words “special style - confederate” in block 11."

Headstone with the Southern Cross of Honor

"The inscription on the special style for Civil War Confederate is also limited. The Southern Cross of Honor is automatically inscribed at the top. The name is arched, followed by abbreviated military organization and dates of birth and death."

    SC State Rep agrees:

South Carolina pol says Charleston shooting victims 'waited their turn to be shot'

"These people sit in there and waited their turn to be shot," Chumley told CNN reporter Drew Griffin on Tuesday.

"That's sad … that somebody in there with the means of self-defense could have stopped this. And we'd have less funerals than we're having," Chumley continued.

It's sad how radically different Jewish and Christian beliefs can be. The Jewish people I know said that allowing yourself to be murdered is tanamount to suicide, while the Christians seem to think it's an honor.

I think your mileage will vary, depending on which people you talk to. There's a whole spectrum of belief out there.

You have an interesting point. History has shown the Jewish have no problem protecting themselves with weapons strapped in full view in response to those who wish to do them harm very publicly. Christians tend to display an attitude of expressing the power of love and forgiveness at least publicly.

Behind closed doors though I have seen Christians plan and provide armed security but in a very discrete manner through concealed carry and using paid off duty LEO's in plain clothes. At least in churches here in the area.

Martin Luther King and CORE used black veterans serving as deacons in churches to provide armed security hence called the Deacons of Justice which was pointed out by others on this thread.

While attending a very remote back country Southern Baptist church in North Carolina I discovered several members were armed with their sidearms during a conversation after the service and we even compared holsters. My observation is that urban blacks have a very different view from blacks in the country that being country folk are not phased at all in firearms being within their midst by responsible adults.

Except the majority of Jewish people in this country continually vote for those that wish to take away that right.

I don't embrace all apparent tenets of the Catholic faith. For example, lately they've shown a penchant for socialist ideology, with the notable exception of course being abortion.

This Catholic has NO problem with following suit of the Jewish in the manner you describe.

That characteristic is certainly not unique to the black community. But back when my wife was traveling for work she noticed that as well. Black folks in say, Jackson MS, are a very different class of people than those that reside in Baltimore.

And those same people are certainly no friends of Israel, for whatever reason.

My brother married a Jewish gal. Her family is pro Israel (one of my sister-in-law's sisters lives there) and rabidly pro-Democrat/liberal.

Knowing my brother it truly is a case of opposites attract.

I remember a lot of pro-israel reform Jews were struggling in 2008 with Obama. I think he is a master of doing just enough to not totally abandon Israel.
