I thought I read about this here once but searched and can't find the thread. Form 20 is just too vague a search term apparently and returns a million posts.

I've just gotten back my first Form 20 to transport my SBR to my dad's house in VA (good for 1 year). Is a different one needed for EVERY different location in the same state? What if I visit my brother (also in VA)? Or visit my dad then my brother on the same trip, w/ the SBR still in the car? Being an NFA item, I can't just leave it w/ my dad. Basically, do I need to file a unique Form 20 w/ EVERY address of family/friends/ranges that I'd shoot it or even stop at?

Yes, you need a separate form 5030-20 for each and every location you want to shoot your SBR in a state outside your home state. I just called and talked to the NFA regarding this exact question. That said you can also send them a stack of 5030-20 with all the potential locations you would like to shoot the SBR and they should approve them all at one time.

Haha. I had tried "5030.20". Doing it on MDS it only returns THIS post now;)

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll go file some more of them...

Since its not an SBR if converted back, I guess I can just swap parts when I cross the border for now. The MP5 is a tricky one. As a pistol its banned in MD but legal in VA. I'll have to do that as was planning to shoot next week at a friend of a friends private range. No way to get another form 20 approved by then:(

    Try 5030.20

What on earth is a 5030.20? 5330.20 is a certification of compliance, 5320.20 is an application for interstate transport.

The turn around time on 5320.20's is VERY fast. 9 days door to door last time for me ( a couple of weeks ago). Fill out a stack of them with every destination address you can think of and send them in.

My first (and only one so far) took 2 months. Got it back a couple wks ago. Maybe the 2nd time is faster;)

Edit: Searching for 5320.20 is more productive;)
