Anybody bought any 1911 frames or other parts from Fusion? If so what did you think of the parts you bought? I've heard good things about 'em but I'm still checking on 'em. Thanks

I've been thinking about getting some of their 1911 kits. Still not sure yet. Gotta do more research before I put the money out.

Can I buy their frame and all the parts to put one together for myself ? Is that legal in Maryland ? I hope so. I'm really enjoying doing some work to my 1991A1 and I want to try assembling a whole gun next.

Gummy, yes. Or, you can buy parts and then send them to a custom 'smith for building.

I wonder if Fusion would be willing to "work" with the folks of MD. Sell the customer a bare frame, and then after the paperwork is done, the customer sends Fusion the frame to be built up.

mikec, that should be do-able. When you purchase the frame in Maryland, you are purchasing a handgun. You would do the background check and wait procedure, take possession of the frame and ship it to fusion when you are ready. And the return shipment will be to your door, signature required.

Just remember folks, only their frames are legal in MD, no complete guns have been approved.

Remember, MD's wonderful Handgun Roster Board, which approves all handguns that are legal for sale in the state. (applies only to handguns made after 1/1/85)

It sounds like someone who wanted a Fusion frame went through the hoops and got the frame approved but no factory guns are approved.

Yes, this is a real stupid thing. The frame is OK, but factory guns built on those same frames aren't legal here.

I don't think any of the Fusion models would have a hard time getting approved. The fact that most start at $1,200 and go up should help. Additionally, how many other 1911's are approved.

How about shell casings for MD? If I get my dealer to purchase a frame or kit to build a pistol how is the shell casing issue handled or is it not needed?

Gummy, I forget that one. I had asked that at Continental one time when they had some Caspian frames available.

We are lucky in that way. MD allows bare frames, but CA does not.
