I came across this picture from the Internet. I like it a lot.

I'm really thinking about doing a Mini-14 SBR, set-up with an Original factory Side Folder. I wonder how the short barrel affects accuracy and reliability.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Do it! That would look badass!

Did you guys ever SBR a mini. If so, how was it. I have a mini that's not been getting much love since I discovered ARs.

Mine is also grandfathered in a folder. Butler Creek, not factory.

    MD.
My dad had two Mini 14s and I always wanted to find a OEM folding stock for the stainless one. He passed away and they went to my brothers like he had planned for them to and I had a SOCOM 16 so no big loss. I had the chance to shoot a Ruger AC 556, full auto with a folder and short barrel. Talk about an ear to ear grin! They are one of the more affordable machine guns and there are a bunch out there. A 40 round mag dump had the Marines I was serving overseas with jealous of me for carrying it when the DS agent let me borrow it for the day!:party29:

Not the actual gun I got to carry but an exact copy!

I'm just going to do it on a form 1. When the stamp comes back, send it off to my gunsmith to have the barrel chopped, Threaded 1/2x28, AAC 51T Flash hider and a gas block mounted front sight.

I'll keep the wood or maybe drop it in a Ruger factory folding stock.

I want a simple , lightweight/ streamline carbine that looks good.

Would the flash hider and folder not go against the "two feature test"? Or are you outside MD?
