I had the Registered M16 (AR15 Conversion) out today for the first time.

I had a 11", 14.5" and 20" upper for it. All shot great. Gun ran 100%. I had just added a KAC Ambi selector, Troy Ambi Mag release and Tango Down Grip. All worked great.

Of course at the end it was time to drop the Beta Mag on it! 11" Barrel, probably 90rds loaded.

I am shooting. Seems to slow down a bit and I let off the trigger for a second, then keep going. Then stop as I see the gas tube start to turn bright orange. I did not notice it and no one watching at the time noticed but the Mag lights up at the end. I shot it again after this video to finish out last few rounds out of the mag and it shot fine. I am thinking the dry lube caught fire.... but whatever it was, it sure looks cool! Nice day for shooting!

Very neat catching that. That's likely unburnt powder accumulating in the gas system and it decided to say "Hello".

    Thanks for Sharing.

Broke it on the 1st time out huh?

Why do you need more uppers? Seems like you should be good to go.

    Haha, na still works 100%

Well I am stealing uppers from semi autos to use on it. Not ideal but workable. The 11" was actually a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I will still likely look for a 14.5" upper. However I am not buying anything before I get a Shrike.

I cant watch these videos :ohnoes:

    :D

    Why?

    AW-SOME!

I need to come to one of these shoots. My MG's are getting lonely and need to mingle with others ;)

Yes you do! Whats keeping you! Fix it and come on out!

    I want one.

We can help you make that happen. Come to our MG show!

wallet gets itchy, visions of divorce papers... :toothless

I have no idea how big of a gun collection or financial situation you are in. However there are many that say that sitting on a lot of guns they rarely shoot.

Buying this did not come without some growing pain. I went down to my collection and said, what do I like less than a M16. I sold things that got the answer yes until the money was raised. Not one penny from a paycheck. It took me about a year of selling things to pay for it. However the stress on the family financials was zero.

I can't tell you how many people I hear say just what you said and are sitting on 50 pistols averaging $500 each... Go sell 30 of them and get yourself a M16! You will enjoy it more and shoot it more often. I have under 10 handguns, 2 bolt actions... prioritize the money where you want to go and you will get there quicker than you think. However most people don't really want it that much or don't know how to save or need instant gratification. There are also a lot of MGs that are great and fun as hell that are a lot cheaper...

I understand your argument so I will clue you in to my situation. My entire "collection"(if you can call it that), including what I have into my safe, is less than $5k

I don't see how "instant gratification" and anything NFA can be mentioned in the same paragraph :lol2:

    Definitely not where you are!
Here's a conundrum for you. Do you sell original HK9x series rifles to fund that MG endeavor ;) Especially, if you're eye balling a registered sear pack.

I'm kind of at this point now. I know, not really a problem per say, but a fun hypothetical.

Bank of America has a 0% credit card with a 21 month payback period, just sayin.........

Wives don't really need to know about such things.

Well there are a several MGs under $5K. Do you have other hobbies? If so then again, you have to decide what means more to you. No boats, Bikes or new cars for me. Just enough to get me and my guns to the range.

You only have an instant of gratification as the magazine empties in an instant! There you go!

I think you do what you need to get into a MG. 401Ks allow loans against it...

2nd to last MG I bought I used money from sold guns to pay for it. 9 months later it showed up to my door (C&R). I was really happy to have a new MG. I did not want to make it seem like I was hiding it, especially if it came up later. So I went up stairs and said "Do you want to see the gun stuff I got in the mail?" My wife say "na, not really."... well I offered.. enough said! Plus once you get enough, no one notices the addition of more. No one in my family even noticed the M16...

I don't consult my wife on a firearm purchases. Now once I dipped into the savings to pay for it, then I made sure she did not have a big problem with it before I took the money but it was happening anyway. I am not suggesting people be sneaky or underhanded or spending the kids college fund. However many guys are way to controlled by their wives on such issues. $100+ hair cuts and money on nails need to get cleared by me than too! I don't expect my wife to notify me any time she wants to drop some of her hard earned money either. Buying a firearm is far from gambling it away at the casino or drinking it away in a bar, no need to feel guilty over some responsible use of money. If it ever really hits the fan the gun can be sold or used depending on the situation! ;0

Lol, the discussion thing no workie for me. The answer will ALWAYS be NO, no questions, no talking it out, just NO.

So I put on my sneaky suit and "improvise".

Good thing all these discussions are hidden from public view, right?
