The scope already has rings with weaver style bases and would attach to this type (originally was for mounting to a slug gun with holes already drilled):

But I want to attach it to a riser that has the bottom attach point be a piccatinny type (my LR308). So I would need a weaver style top on the riser? Can you point to any? I want to order from SG as they are having a double points thing right now.

I also was given 2 scopes, but they do not have rings. I'd love to put one on the AR15, but it has the fixed front sight ( carry handle comes off and reveals a piccatinny rail). One scope is a fixed 4x ( Weaver), the other is variable ( Bushnell). The other I am thinking a .17 HMR or something for foxes. Which should I put on the AR15? What sort of mounting suggestion for the AR?

ALSO- what is decent plinking ammo for .308? Is Wolf Silver too crappy? For the LR 308.

I am still such a noob! Would be great if a MDS member from Havre de Grace or near by could help me out. Someone who isn't constantly busy and hard to get ahold of LOL.

Your LR308 has pic rails on the receiver, right? Get one of this type of scope mount. You will be able to remove your scope if need be, put it back on and maintain zero.

You can use one on your AR as well(I would put the 4x fixed on the AR and the variable on the .17 HMR)

Edit: I also found this which I think you'll like a lot better.

I've used Weaver rings right on the picatinny cuts of the risers I have used. The Picatinny and Weaver mounts differ in the dimensions and spacing of the cross cuts. The remaining profiles are the same. Remove and reinstall - the zero is essentially there.

I agree with outrider on the application, fixed 4 on the AR and variable on the .17 since that is a tiny target rifle. I use a fixed 4x on my RRA AR and it is good enough to shoot submoa consistently.
