Yes, know the enemy and yourself, isn't this like using their own ammo against them. ;-)

I did the early vothing thing last night. Work is shaping up to have me off-site on the 4th, making voting on that day nearly impossible.

Regardless, I took my kids with me - ages 7 and 13. There was a decent crowd at the Urbana Library. I checked-in, confirmed that it was okay to have my kids at the voting station with me, and proceeded to poke at the touch screen. Both kids were attentive and engaged, and I took the opportunity to turn this into an educational opportunity.

On the drive home, we had an extended conversation about the importance of voting. Of note, my daughter observed that I didn't vote exclusively for Ds or Rs. She found that confusing, as she expected me to be voting along party lines. (That's probably what they teach in school ... how to be good little obedient drones.) I explained that I am not obligated to vote for any particular person, and that I often will vote for "the other guy" if there is an incumbent candidate who is doing a poor job (Board of Education, I'm looking at y'all.)

So while there may be some tipping-my-hand liability (assuming the early votes are available to the candidates,) I think the value of educating my kids on the topic far outweighed that.

It's like when the Finns replicated the Russian re-supply signals so the Russians dropped fresh supplies on them, thinking they were re-supplying fellow Russians.

I'm voting today because a few family members have a bug and I don't want to take the chance that it'll be my turn next week. As an experiment though, I'd like to show up next week at my regular poll location and just see what happens when they look me up on the roster. I assume they'd not let me vote but I'm really curious if checks and balances are in place. Of course I wouldn't actually vote twice if they allowed me but does anyone know the ramifications of trying to vote twice? I don't want to break any laws, I just want to see for myself if I could or not.

I would suspect that it would depend upon whether you are registered as an "R" or a "D". R = jail; D = see you again this afternoon. :innocent0

IMO, it would be flagged in short order.

A local candidate here (and his wife) came out Monday night while I was out working the parking lot.

He voted, and within 10 seconds his wife checked in and was told she had already voted (the worker mistakenly put the husband's name in for her).

I would suggest that, if you are looking to test it, that you go in and simply ask them to check to see if you are marked as having voted. I'd say the answer would be yes.

    I'm certain you are right.
I am a bit curious though.

I voted! Pretty sure I was the only non-Dem to ever set foot in the Florence Bain Center in Columbia, but since I'm a DINO I guess I can't even count myself.

Like I have said in another thread, I am waiting until the 4th. No way I am giving them any numbers to manipulate.

If the votes are going to be manipulated, I doubt the day you cast it matters.

There is literally no paper trail, so the vote could never be verified.

I fought against early voting before it was allowed. I do not believe in it. We already had an absentee ballot as an option for those that cannot make it on election day. In my opinion, early voting is the first step towards voting from home on your own PC. No chance for fraud there.
