Been saving for a Colt but may just get this instead. Seems to have some great reviews:

    $549.99+$5.99 S&H:

    $100 Rebate from Remington:

But note, only a 2 year warranty I believe.

I bought one last April from CDNN for $545 that had a $75 rebait.
The rebate was $10 less than shipping + FFL fee so I was free and clear for $555.

It is a sweet shooting 1911. Mind you it's not some top of the line Colt or Kimber custom crafted hand made beautiful unicorn 1911. It's a pretty basic GI style 1911. But for that price, it's a helluva bargain for a solid firearm made by a reputable manufacturer.

Really, they look just like pretty much all 1911's.

Do you have links to the bad reviews, I own one and have had zero issues.

Yeah I'm not sure why I'm biased against them. Maybe I just think of Remington as a rifle company. I forget where I was reading the reviews. I just remember guys complaining about FTF and FTE.

I had an R1S for quite some time, and I ended up having to swap the ejector for an extended one to get the ejection consistent. It never *failed* to eject, but it would eject brass directly back at my face. A longer ejector solved that problem.
