  • Hey all!

Just saw this on Liveleak and thought it may help to prevent harm to anyone that may have this type of ammo.

Evidently, this polymer cased 7.62 ammo will likely fail, catastrophically in fluted chambers (FAL, HKG3, etc).

The video shows the results of the failure experienced during the test.
They only fired 2 rounds and both experienced case failures.
1 blew the follower into the floor plate......and the floor plate through the bottom of the magazine, through a range bag and into the wooden table!

This is a well-known limitation of PCP ammo, and one that I believe the manufacturer warns about. Interesting video, but not really a surprise.

I messed around with the PCA Spectrum ammo several years back in 223 and had a lot of case separation issues in my XM15-E2S. Haven't touched the poly stuff since.

Same warning regarding fluted chambers also applied then.

I don't recall the FAL having a fluted chambers, but this ammunition appears to be unstable in both types of chambers. They need to go back to the drawing board. I wonder if this would be feasible in pistol calibers?
