Just picked this up today. I'm keen on refinishing the hand guard and I've narrowed the finish down to 2 choices: either OD Green/Moss or Black/Cappuccino stain with BLO finish. Will add either a black or ODG Hogue grip to match. Thoughts?

Hmm...laminate wood (even well sanded) doesn't take stain very well. Guess I should have expected as much. May need to rethink this and use paint? Any other thoughts?

I think the only product that's going to look even halfway decent is something like a Minwax Polyshade (they do make a black). No way a traditional stain or dye is going to work. The surface is non-porous and more like fiberglass.

Amber shellac and leave the Romy grip on it. Also I'd switch that AR style bird cage(yuck!)for a slant brake or a AIMR conical brake. Swap the Crapco mag with euro steel and remember 922r doesn't apply to pistols :)

Maybe one of the plasti-dip camo colors will look good. It may take 4+ coats but has a decent feel and possible to peel off if you change your mind, and repairable. Just a thought. YouTube plastidip.
