I tried stripping down my 11-87P for cleaning last night and got to the part of pulling the barrel out and it won't go. It comes out about 3/4" and just stops. ??? Also, I can't find the rubber O-ring that's supposed to be around the mag tube. I'm thinking that maybe the O-ring is under the barrel to mag piece. Would using a rubber mallet be okay on this?

Have you tried opening the bolt before pulling on the barrel?

Is your barrel pinned? A lot of people pin their 1187 bbls especially on rifled bbls. No mysterious Allen screws going through the barrel extension/receiver?

Not pinned, but there seems to be a detente inside the receiver that stops the barrel from accidentally being pulled out. The barrel came off and now I can give this shotgun a thorough cleaning. Thanks everyone.

Plug the muzzle, chamber a round, pull the trigger.
    Might work.
