Went to the Antique Arms Collector show in Timonium this morning. Like always it was a great time looking at all of the displays and the rare types of weapons for sale. Everything was pretty expensive but if you looked hard a few deals were to be had. Saw this M91 a walk-in had for sale and had to have it. Its a 1896 dated Tula and is SA marked. The bolt matches and the bore is spotless without any counterbore. Stock is in excellent shape as well. Came with a bayonet also. Paid $250 for it which I'm happy with, i've been looking for a nice Finn capture Russian M91 for a while and this one fit the bill. Who else went and what did you get?

I was able to kill a quick hour and half there this morning before a meeting I had at 11. I always thought a WWII Johnson Rifle would be cool to own. I saw 3 there could have been more, cheapest was 3,000 most expensive I saw was 6,800. Too rich for my blood, but I can dream.

Thanks guys. The stock is certainly American Walnut like psyoring says, just took it out in better light and saw the New England Westinghouse "arrow" on the end cap, can also make out a slight cartouche on the stock

Saw those Johnson rifles as well, getting one is on my extended list, but I'll probably only be able to get one when/if I hit the lottery.

Nice pick up! Depending on the type of bayonet that came with it - it could be a steal ;)

I'm planning on attending tomorrow morning to see what's left. I'll be looking at accessories for the most part.

Just came with a 91/30 bayonet unfortunately, but its no big deal to me. Didn't see many bargains, but some of the prices on Arisakas weren't too bad unless it was a paratroop or sniper version. Lots of Krag-Jorgensens and Springfields. Thought I saw a last ditch Type 99 for $175 but didn't look at it up close. PLENTY of parts, accessories, bayonets or any other obscure things you may be looking for but prices may good or bad. Wish I could have looked around some more but it was a bit crowded and I was tired of walking around for the 2 and a half hours I was there for.

Wish I'd seen that first! Nice find.

I went and didn't see many bargains for the stuff I was looking for. Almost went for a sub-$300 Type 38 carbine, but the stock had more damage than I was comfortable with and it looked like it might've had some rust. I was tempted though...

Still a fun show. We always see something cool. After 4 hours walking around, our feet were killing us though...

Did you see the Japanese Type 38 for $185 at the small booth in the outside row at one corner of the hall? It looked surprisingly nice for the price. Would have bought it if I was looking for one.

OP, very nice M91. I didn't see any this afternoon.

Yup pretty good selection of Arisakas today, almost snagged a Type 30 rifle for $400 but the bore looked too much like a sewer pipe for my tastes. Saw a heck of a lot of training rifles too

Argh. No. I missed that one somehow. Curse my luck...
