My Form 4 was eFiled on 6/21/22 and I received the email approval at 2:41 PM, today, Sunday, 3/26/23. I'll fetch my item on Tuesday as the shop is closed tomorrow. ATF is showing their "process time for Form 4" as 270 days....mine: 278 days.
ATF wait time
I never dug around on the ATF web site or called. My 1st can from a shop on Falls Road, Black Rock, took 11 months....no rhyme or reason. It looks like ATF is running 5 months from completed APP to actual stamp. You could check with Dan at Elite to get his impression. Good luck!
A little Maynard history
The Maynard Carbine
More than 20,000 Maynard Second Model Carbines were produced between 1863 and 1865 to arm Federal cavalry units. Unlike the First Model Maynard, the Second Model was produced exclusively in .50 caliber. In addition, the Maynard tape primer system...
BP Revolver Shooting
I have been slinging lead with this one Uberti Remington .44 since 1965, mainly at North-South Skirmish Association matches, including team shooting at breakable targets and individual match paper targets out to 50 yards off hand. Here are a couple of mods: raised front...
Found in an old .30 ammo can
I'm not sure if they came from Jeff Bartlett or Wideners but 20 years ago I bought a full to the brim ammo can of Lake City NM 1967-1968 .30-06 brass. The bullets had been collet pulled, powder salvaged and the primers chemically killed. The can was forgotten about...
My Christmas can
Maryland Elite Firearms (Baltimore's Best Pawn) was recommended to me because they use an electronic kiosk system to do the fingerprints and forms that seemed to streamline the process...which couldn't start till they had the actual can in hand for the serial #...

Form 4 Approved
Used Maryland Elite Firearms in Finksburg. Form 4 signed and sent on July 28th. Received a call on Christmas Eve that my stamp arrived (ATF approved on 12/4 and diddled around for 3 weeks). Picked up my Lunar 9mm can that afternoon and stuck it under the Christmas tree!
Hornady has a new two die set out, new bullets (.2105) and real BRASS in this caliber for anyone desiring to handload for their AK-74. Load data (powder & charge) is scant, but the low end start point for .222 Remington should work. Lee can provide a swaging die for $25 to squeeze your .224...
Quick annealing method for bottle neck cartridges
I came across this method almost 3 years ago and it fits my needs, mainly military rifle shooting at Baltimore County Game & Fish:
Gun Shows affected, too...
This will impact what goes on at the Timonium Fairgrounds, too. "Under the plan, a temporary gun show must have a security plan approved by the Chief of Police that includes an alarm system, video surveillance and live security guard coverage when the show is closed."...
"John Z"
I went to college with John, U of MD in the early '60s. He is still active, a member of McNeill's Rangers...and, like me, John is in his mid-70s.
I've shot N-SSA for 58 years, every season since 1961. Team matches, artillery, mortar and individual events (revolver, smoothbore horse pistol, carbine, repeater (Henry & Spencer), smoothbore musket and rifled musket) provide the variety to keep me slinging lead and burning powder. There are...
When I wake up tomorrow AM, if it’s cloudy, chilly, wife in a bad mood and there’s a headache brewing….I’ll just smile and remember that Hillary is NOT in the White House, Gorsuch is on the bench and Trump is going to get another pick for the Supremes!
Just saw this "rock and a hard place" analysis on CNN's web page covering the announcement: "The timing couldn't be worse for the five Democratic senators up for re-election in states Trump won by double digits: Sens. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Jon Tester of Montana...
Another shoe to drop....
There is something else going on in the case and that was more than implied by the statement that "law enforcement continues to investigate the defendant for additional violations of federal criminal law... disclosure of the information and this motion to seal at this...
So, he admits guilt and could face 3 years in prison plus $75,000 in fines. Will he lose his 2nd Amendment rights as an ordinary citizen could? That could be a dilemma, a police commissioner who can't own or carry a gun! These charges were supposed to be "sealed," but there may be more embers...
The total time was 24 days. I was finger printed and did the online app May 4th. The card was in the mailbox on May 28th. I had a training exemption, having purchased a pistol a couple of years ago, and input the make, model and serial # onto the MSP application.

I also endorse "The Third Bullet" novel by Stephen Hunter. A lot went into this writing and Hunter really did his digging to put this story together.
