      Bowfishing rig questions

Anyone here have a bowfishing rig? I'm looking to set up my boat and had a couple of questions. Where's the best place to ask? In case there's anyone here that can answer, questions would be: Should I run the generator to my on-board charging system and run the lights off of the batteries, or...

How to clean up these bayonets?

Recently inherited these bayonets. They've clearly been touched up with something. You can see "overspray" on the handles. I'm planning to sand blast them down and cold blue them, but I wanted to check with the braintrust before I went and potentially ruined them. Thoughts on what this is...

      Hunting photos from the '20's-'50's

      A. Aubrey Bodine was a photographer for the Sunpapers until his death in 1970. Here's his work on hunting, mostly in MD. Some very cool pics here. It's an old website with an old format, but it works. https://aaubreybodine.com/gallery/category.asp?cat=84&pg=1#TOF

      Secretary desk

I think that's what this is called? Anyways, this needs a lot of work. Complete refinish and a leg was amputated by termites, but have leg and bugs are gone. No laminate is peeling that I can tell. If no one takes it it'll go to the dump.

Frank Illiano guilty of withholding taxes

For those that don't know, Illiano is the owner of many restaurants and properties in Mt Airy. Some people call him "Mr Mt Airy" because he owns so much. Well, for the SECOND TIME, he's guilty of collecting taxes from his employees and NOT paying them to the gov't. Pled guilty on Monday for...

      Fly tying materials

I haven't tied a fly in 25 years, so it's past time for me to get rid of this. If it doesn't go to someone here in a week or so it'll go to the dump. Pickup in Mt Airy

need a boat seat pad made

Nothing complex...just a seat pad to screw down on top of a livewell on a new-to-me boat. It just needs to be plywood, foam, and camo material. Roughly 12"x20". Do I need a custom shop to make this or are they aftermarket somewhere? I searched Overton's and BassPro but didn't come up with...

Anyone ever work with this a$$hole? https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/05/opinions/guns-ar-15-uvalde-school-shooting-fanone/index.html Brief summary: "I was a cop so I know things. AR-15's bad, Mmm-Kayyy? I know because I own one. No, I won't get rid of mine even though I'm not a cop anymore, but...

Little magnetic rubber pads...what do you call them?

The little pieces of rubber that you stick to the end of your shotgun while you're shooting trap...what the heck are they called? They protect your muzzle while you rest the gun on the ground. Trying to buy some but have no idea what to search for.

      ~5lbs of pork

Roughly 5 pounds of shredded pork up for grabs. CAVEAT: This is from a whole pig that I cooked last July. The pig was an entact male, and was 2+ years old. I had the same type of pig the year before and it was fantastic. This one though, was not. Very "musky". The meat has a smell and a flavor...

      Invasive Species interactive map

Putting this here because it is more "Outdoors" than anything else even though it lacks the "sports" bit for the most part. But here is a map of the country. Click on a state and you can get a list of the top invasive species, including insects, animals, plants, and disease. You can even break...

      DNR hiring a NRB3

That's a Natural Resources Biologist level III. Duties include fishing* the Bay all day, and then studying and reporting on the results. Must be able to operate a boat, trailer, and ID fish from eggs and larvae to adult. Would be a cool job for someone with the knowledge...

Make a smooth bore out of a rifle?

Messing with the snake shot (from another thread) has me wondering if this is a viable thing or not. I was thinking that you could fill a barrel with lead, and then drill out the barrel inside of the rifling, leaving the lead in the rifling and thus making a smooth bore. What do you...

      Effective range of snake shot?

I have .22 lr rounds of 12 shot "pest control"...as title says, what's my range? I've got a bit of a rat problem in the chicken run, and the usual treatments haven't worked. I can sit in my living room and watch (warmly) from about 13 yards, but dont know if that's too far or not

      Fox or groundhog den?

Is there any way to tell them apart? I've got a fresh hole behind my house (to go with the 10 others back there) and always wondered which was which.

Any interest in a deer hunting tournament?

I mentioned in the other thread that I used to be part of a hunting tourney every year. It was among friends, so there was a lot of trust to go around, and to be honest, I'm not sure how well that would go over with a bunch of guys who barely know each other, but I figured I'd see if there was...
