      York 3 Man 3 Gun - Spring 2012

Couldn't find it in the website, but will every team member need their own AR, shotgun, and handgun? We have 2 of each among us but not 3.

Which rifle/shotgun are you headed out with on opening day and why?

Sitting out in the woods right now behind my 6.5-300 win mag with 140 Berger VLDs at 3388fps. 200yards zero 13" drop to 400yards! Also have my browning BPS with 00 buck and M&P 9mm for backup if one gets in close. Good luck everyone!

      fnherstal 338 lapua

High quality? For $6500, heck yea better be! Will it outperform a build with the parts I mentioned? Nope!

      fnherstal 338 lapua

Unless your collecting or something, no it's not worth the money. For $6500 you can build a full custom 338 lapua with only the best of the best components. I would use a defiance, raptor (made by defiance), or BAT action, any premium barrel maker (broughton, brux, bartlien, krieger, hart...

      2011 trail cam pics

Shaaks, that's a coyote. Have a few pictures of one, they are very hard to capture on camera for some reason. We have 7 cameras set up, probably 5-7k photos of wildlife over the last 3months, about 4 good photos of a coyote. We also got some cool ones of 2 black bears :D

18 Year Old Handgun Transportation Question

Is that a federal law or MD? Asking as I'm 17 in VA. What about if the handguns are on my family's property, and I shoot there, that's fine, right? Don't know how far a drive it would be for you, but you'd be more than welcome to come shoot with me on our property. It's by broad run, va...

      Do I need a 300 WinMag?

Do you need a win mag... Depends, how often do you shoot long range? Past 800yards? Can you dope wind reasonably well? Do you handload? If you don't shoot much long range, may be better served with a more versatile gun like say a .308win. A win mag is an expensive to shoot progression...

      Quantico NRA F-Class & Highpower 8/20-21

Came across this on the Quantico SC calendar but no post on here. Thought i'd post it up for anyone who's interested. Saturday 8/20 4-Man team match, 45shots per person, 15 each at 300, 500, 600yards. + sighters, 2 directly preceding each 15shots for record. Individual 500 agg, 15shots...

      Velocity

Just ran the ballistics. At 300yrd with a 175smk running 2700fps, 20fps under will give you .2" more drop and 20fps over will give you .5" high. Thats twice your extreme spread and still will only account for less than .3 moa shift. Have you consistently shot bugging 200yard groups? Then it...

      7mm wsm vs 270 wsm

Ok... Sorry can let this go. Just because you personally don't see the benefits of shortmags does not make them pointless. 300 WSM is one of the most prevalent cartridges in LR BR (litmus test for the shooting sports, IMO) just look at this years world open results. Oh, and overall #3 was a 7...

Bridgeville High Power and F Class - 7/10/11

Yoshi, F-T/R is a restricted class for only unmodified .308 win and .223 rem. No other calibers allowed, the weight restricted is also in the mid 17lbs while for open it is 20 or 22 (not sure, i shoot a 16lb F-T/R rifle). So either he has an extremely heavy .308 or .223 and couldn't make...

Apex tactical FSS preliminary review for M&P

Thanks for the write up! Just bought an M&P 9L that I want to set up for USPSA production and IDPA. If I'm not mistaken, the different trigger makes it illegal for production, correct? I just watched another video on the FSS and it seemed they use the standard trigger. How can I set up the...

So, I think I have my dream rig planned...

Yoshi, Does not change my opinion on the barrel at all. What I insinuating was that for a precision rifle, the best place to look is what the competitive crowd, specifically the winners, are running. Same thing in tactical competitions, I'm yet to see anyone or hear of anyone using a carbon...

So, I think I have my dream rig planned...

Nice parts! I would say use a timney, rifle basix, or better yet, Jewell trigger. Also, just a personal opinion, but a tactical rifle will be pretty heavy regardless, and after so many high quality precision parts are used, I would stay with a more traditional barrel. Yes for the same weight...

Bridgeville High Power and F Class - 7/10/11

Another question, is this match NRA sanctioned? And would it be possible for me to shoot 15shot strings versus 20 as the rifle I plan to shoot has a rather light contour barrel.

Bridgeville High Power and F Class - 7/10/11

looks like i may be able to also make this match! If anyone is interested in driving out together, let me know. If i am able to go, i will be driving from northern VA.

      6.5x47 Lapua

I shoot 130 JLKs at a mild 2914fps from a 26" 1-8.5twist Krieger. You should be able to get close to 3000 possibly with H4350. If you really just want mrs speed, while it's a less stable powder, RL17 should let you hit 3100 with a 130 and close to 2950 with a 140. You cannot outrun the wind...

Which guns have bruised your shoulder?

Worst I've ever experienced: browning BPS 12ga while patterning 3" mag high velocity turkey shells off the bench. Holy cr*p I took some Ashoka after that, had a headache and all! Only thing that has ever really been uncomfortable to shoot for me.

Registration is Open, June Mayberry Carbine Match

Out of curiosity, anyone thing about running this course with an AK? I know most will be ARs, but is an AK at such a huge disadvantage that nobody will use one? I'm asking because I'd love to have an excuse to buy/build one...

Log Splitter Shooting Event Wednesday, June 1...

Jason, yes the bigger calibers will have an advantage if the shooter can control them. However those have a lot of surface area, someone needs a savage striker or Remington xp-100 to clean up! Those are pistol designated bolt actions with 12-18" barrels. Get one chambered in 300win mag, and you...
