That's pretty much the case. What I'm thinking now is I will purchase more of a "general" platform to start with. Something to learn and grow with, that can stretch out 1000 - 1200 yards, shoot matches with, not overly terrible for ammo costs. For calibers I'll look into 6.5 CM and similar. This...
I’m looking at 800-1000 yards primarily, may step out further on occasion. I’m not really interested in shooting matches, but that may change in the future. You can never have too many firearms. I’ll look into that GA Precision production rifle as well.
Thanks for the reply I’ve thought about that as well. I’m military and moving back west or down south next summer. Most likely Alaska or Florida, many more options to shoot distance. 6.5 CM is great, but I’m looking to go big. Because, well, why not!
Any long range guys in this group? I’m looking to buy something to reach out far with, target shooting but also want a bigger caliber just for kicks. Maybe 300 PRC or 338 LM. I just started doing my research, so I’m new to this. I’m looking to keep the cost around $2500 for the gun. The Ruger PR...
I can handle that........
1) Once you receive a pin for a 77r the application can not be edited.
2) Multiple 77r applications can be made as long as the previous one was never submitted to the review pool by actually purchasing a firearm.

Okay I get that. But on the 77r there is a question along the lines of "will this purchase be from a dealer or private sale?" I selected dealer. My question is, can I begin another 77r and select private sale if I want? Or do I have to wait 30 days? I'm just curious.
Secondly, I'm going to...
I have a question. Say I submit a 77r to purchase a handgun from a dealer, then I decide to purchase a handgun from a private sale instead. Can I submit another 77r within the same month? Or is the first 77r still valid, considering the handgun will be transferred through a FFL.

Did someone say Marie's Diner? I'll take a sweet tea with an order of chipped beef over biscuits and a side of loaded home fries. Definitely my favorite restaurant in La Plata. For fast food I'm a Chic-fil-a and Chipotle kind a guy, can't beat em.

It's funny Yall mentioned FL. I'm currently TAD in Port Canaveral for 3 months doing training. I love it down here, hope to return permanently one day.

Thanks everyone for the help. Y'all have made this whole process a lot clearer to me. I'm going to purchase a handgun on leave at the end of the month. I'll do my online 77R today. Now to decide what to get........

Thank you. I understand that I am exempt from possessing a HQL. My only question is, can I walk into a FFL and leave with a handgun? Or is there more to it? Sorry if these questions are mundane.

Well anything I buy in MD will stay in MD for now. I don't commission for another year so I doubt I'll have FLE preference. As far as purchasing the handgun, say I walk into an FFL with my drivers license and CAC card, what happens next? Is it just as simple as purchasing the gun and leaving...
Alright, so I have my CAC card that says active duty. I am currently stationed in CT (I know, it sucks). My drivers license and truck registration are through MD. Does this help?

Hello everyone,
I would like to purchase my first handgun and am a bit confused about the HQL process. Can anybody tell me what I need to do before I can purchase a handgun?
