Budget 308 bolt rifle?
When I was first looking into doing a 223 rifle for varmints, I looked at a Ruger American Predator. They consistently review well and are apparently quite good for no more than they cost. If I was looking for a budget gun, that's what I'd get. -

Help me try to understand this - should the highest point of the scope rail be towards the front or the rear? The higher you raise the rear, does that not equate to needing more elevation, not less? I had to dial up a fair bit just to get to zero. Raising the rear of the scope effectively... -

I figured I'd update this. I finally got the Bergara out to the range to get it sighted in, but the ammo I'm using - mainly because I have a bunch of it - is Winchester Super X high velocity - 1300 fps. It's not the most consistent. With that said, I was able to have some fun with the rifle... -

Here's a question - does the handgun roster board ever reject a submission, and if so, why? It seems to me that it would be easier to come up with a law for exclusions (not that there should be anything) and do away with the roster altogether. -

Recoil is a funny thing. I can shoot 4-6 rounds of trap and hardly even notice it - the main place I feel it is my cheek. Recoil has also never bothered me with a handgun. However, if I'm on a bench with a rifle that has some heavier recoil - two that immediately come to mind are two sporters...- trickg

Doc, if you can avoid moving to Maryland and avoid the headache of dealing with the myriad of gun laws that don't make any sense whatsoever, you should, IMO. I guess it just depends on the situation, and how much you care about guns. Ultimately most gun laws are never enforced unless one...- trickg

WOW! IIRC you load on a Dillon 550. Knock on wood, to date I've not encountered either a squib or a double load. I'm glad that the only thing damaged was the pistol and that you're ok. -
RSP vs Haffers for Powder and Primer prices
I got lucky in that regard - I bought a used press from a guy, and he graciously gave me all kinds of supplies - to date, I've only purchased shot and powder, and I didn't need powder for a bit.
