Well, I did not know this. This may make a difference in what I build. If I build an HBAR on a pre 10/1/13 lower, is it considered a regulated weapon with the more restrictive transport laws?
As a Designated Collector, I could possibly claim I'm transporting to a exhibition, but I doubt I...
Back then, I thought that if it wasn't a real Colt Sporter, it would be banned. Nobody knew. I felt a bit stupid a few months later when it was believed that HBARs would be ok, and I paid $135 for a $40 Anderson receiver. I considered the "panic premium" to be the "Maryland screws potential...
Thanks, that's what I thought. Just making sure there isn't some new crap-law-revision thing.
Back then, I thought AR15s in MD would be totally banned, so I quick-nabbed 2 Anderson lowers for the panic-price of $135 each.
Before the Oct 2013 new law threat, I never even considered that I...
I have a couple of stripped AR15 lower receivers I bought on 30 Sept 2013.
My understanding is that I can use these to build non-HBAR AR15s since Maryland considers these receivers to be actual pre-Oct 2013 ARs.
Correct?
I'm sure this has been answered but apparently my search skills suck.
I got the same letter, word for word.
I applied on 22 Sept, then saw online that I already had my active status on 23 Sept.
A few days later I received that same letter, also dated 23 Sept.
Fingerprinted and submitted application 22 Sept.
Approved 23 Sept.
Received license in the mail 27 Sept.
I submitted proof of firearm ownership AND my DD214 for my training exemption.
Just an idea....
I live in the extreme boondocks of the Eastern Shore Maryland. My buddy and I both have Designated Collector Status, so we can both carry guns to a 'private exhibition' so that's not an issue.
Anyway, over the years I have collected many floating buoys and such that have...
I need a watch that can give me local tides (in an obscure area that doesn't exist on the watch's tide city list), and is backlit at night, via button or whatever.
So far, my best bet is this timex:

It's ok, but the...
I'm a MD Designated Collector. Of course, that means that I can transport a gun to a "private exhibition".
If I want to exhibit my pistol to my son-in-law out in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay (and use my 9mm Beretta pistol for fishing ),
is it OK to transport my gun via my boat?
Quick! Join the military. In a few years, get honorably discharged.
Your discharge papers (DD214) will suffice for the online Firearms Safety Training Course.
So anything with the model name beginning with "R" makes it a Sporter, and legal in Maryland.
I have yet to see any gunshops in MD taking advantage of this. Nobody is advertising selling the "Maryland-compliant Colt AR15 Sporter"
for the low-low price of $2500 or somesuch. If I did want...
OK, so for some reason the Colt AR15 Sporter is legal. Other HBAR's may or may not be legal, but we know that the Colt Sporter is legal.
I'm sure many are wondering:
What exactly makes it a Colt AR15 Sporter? Just the name stamped on the gun?
What would it cost me to buy this Maryland-legal...
I went to Wink's Sporting Goods in Princess Anne and put in a purchase order for a forged AR15 lower for about $135. It will be here next week. 8 day release.
So I got in just under the wire, and didn't have to bother with online ordering and FFL transfer issues.
Oh yeah, I forgot that part. Isn't there some provision for transferring a gun between family members, aside from leaving it in a will?
I may just have to stay alive, and 'lend' it to my grandson, when he turns 21.
