      180 gr in a 30/30 win

My Lyman book and lee die paperwork do not have data for a 180 gr. My father use to shoot factory 180s in a lever action. I would like to load some for my bolt action. Any advice?

      Stock repair and refinishing

Maybe I'll check to see if I can find a smaller brass screw.

      Stock repair and refinishing

Due to the location and the amount of meat left I am concerned with using a brass screw because of the diameter. I have 1/8 inch brass rod that I was going to epoxy in place with JB weld Any issues with JB weld?

Well I'll keep you posted once it's finished. I may epoxy brass rods perpendicular to the fracture just for a piece of mind.

Yes it is the wood glue variety. Yellow in color and both prices fully coated and clamped per the directions.

      Stock repair and refinishing

Well that sucks. I used gorilla wood glue. The type that doesn't foam or bubble. Seems like it's holding good for now but the stocks not done so it hasn't been under fire. It's too late now. I'm already pregnant. I'll just have to roll with it and see how it holds up and if comes...

      Stock repair and refinishing

I am in the process of repairing an old SxS stock from the collection. Its not a show piece, just a heirloom duty gun. It involves repairing a large chip behind the left lock and a large crack running from directly behind the locks straight toward the top of the grip. Regardless the...

Nothing notable on the bolt lift. Might have gotten a little sticky but nothing excessive or considerable. This first batch definitely served its purpose. I learned what range is getting toward the excessive side. I did not notice one group that was the sweet spot in the grain groups, but I...

Hard to see unless you zoom in but you can see where the primer began to flow into the pocket depression creating a mushroom shape.

Well I just ran the casings through the trimmer and the most that was needed on a select few was just a touch up. VERY minimal. I also just checked the primer pocket in all of the casings and they all look good. No stretch in any of them. They all checked out. I would say that the Lyman...

Thanks. Good to see that at least two of the lists agree. I guess that is the winning odds. 47 grains at 3013fps. Its not until you get to 49.5 that it breaks 3000 in the lyman book! I had an odd number of cases so the last round was an extra of the 49 grain. I let her rip at 200 yds...

It was close to the max for the paper that lee provided with my dies but mid field per the Lyman book. Would be interested in what some other data collections would say. No I did not vary any other components. All was in once fired Winchester brass using WLR primers with sierra gameking...

      270 handload imr 4064

I ran a few loads in batches at different lengths in comparison to the lands for my final rounds. In my bolt gun, that showed better results in increased accuracy than compared to different grains. I ran 4 at -.020, 4 at -.015, and 4 at -.010. I was shooting off of sand bags as the range...
