So I manage to win this EAA Witness Stock 3 in a FB raffle, im understandably super stoked as I wanted either a stock 3, stock 2 or cz shadow and winning one for far less than going price sealed the deal. Then of course I remember its not on the roster yet....and that the 5th was last day for...
It can cost more yes, but building from the ground up not only allows you to customize to your liking from the get go but also effectively allows you to spread the cost out over time with no term limit or monthly payment schedule. Not to mention some of us have a bizarrely insatiable urge to...
actually saw a video(i'll have to track it down) where a hole was punch clean through it and it still functioned, albeit not nearly as good as before but was still capable of targeting. Remember it being the video that convinced me the price was worth it :lol2:
I personally have the xfs2 with eotechs magnifier, I love it and it is very sturdy and effective...BUT, had I known about the options in 1-4x etc illuminated glass in the same price range as that combo at the time...well I would have a pretty sweet piece of glass instead. If budget is a concern...
If a large part of getting one is for HD then might I suggest an EOTech. Not unmanageably heavy, outstanding field of view and can be had for "cheap"(depending on model and new or used). Also the holographic nature of the sight means its a lot more forgiving on acquisition. Only downside really...
If it were an AR part I'd most likely have ya covered but as it is, a bit thin on the ground with SKS parts, unless you're in the market for a draggy stock and railed receiver cover lol.
It is a duckbill magazine, think it might end up being a target at my next range day lol(dont worry its a piece of crap and not worth anyone using) Honestly with the Tech Sight its more going to come down to the price and purpose. Will my 300BLK fill that role better....yes. So I'll probably...
Its close enough to be serviceable, nice that it allows ele/windage at the rear instead of using the sks front sight tool for adjustments. Yes, I was indeed looking at the increased sight radius as a bonus as well. Yes the lug is ground off, came like that as it was purchased in the ban era...
Still up in the air if im going to go with the tech sight or enjoy as is. Very used to the m16 style rear aperture and like the ease of adjustment as compared to the ak/sks style.

Well, finally got the stock fitted to the receiver. Requires a bit of file work, but the fit is super tight at least. Just have to get a better pin for the new receiver cover latch(comes with a solid pin and feel a roll pin would be alot easier to get installed...unless anyone has done the solid...
Mine has a pinned barrel. Still gonna require a smidge of fitting though. Damn cross bolt is hitting just shy of its mark keeping everything from coming together.

Alrighty, all the parts are in as of this morning. Decided on the wood stock for pure simplicity sake. On an upside David's Collectibles sent me a very very good looking stock. Only downside is its the type with the side sling swivel(I fire lefty). Also got the replacement receiver cover and...
Have personally had good experiences with the Ares BCG as well and at the price its hard to beat.
Edit:Also have used PSA's upper parts(barrel and small parts) in a build and they all work flawlessly

I too went with a quad rail at first. The daniel defense lite. Its an excellent rail but over time I found that a modular tube is perfect if youre not mounting everything known to mankind on it.

Wouldn't say it's overpriced. But if you are considering the MI keymod I can say I'm happy with mine on my recent 300 build. Only chose over the BCM for personal aesthetic reasons.
The "new" magazine came in today. Got lucky and found one for 30 on ebay. Will install and order the replacement stock, receiver cover and tech sight on sunday when I get back from camping at Hershey this weekend. Should come together pretty quick.
