First time
York County was who called me.
The Deputy did advise that they consider any MD permit, including those with the various restrictions, as valid for purposes of issuing a PA permit.
So, once again, another state trusts you more than your home state does.
( I did not include...
I just received a phone from a very nice, polite Deputy Sheriff in the county that has issued my PA non-resident permit for the past 15-20 years.
My MD permit (unrestricted) was due to expire at the end of July. It has already been renewed, and the new card issued. The PA office needed a...
I wasn't mocking you or your question - just wondering if we worry about it too much. Not sure what could go wrong. Conceal properly, don't attack undue attention to yourself, and nothing happens. The sound of a tree falling in the forest when no one is there to hear it.
I understand the question and the concern, but let me ask one in return as a practical matter: If you are concealed, and do it correctly, how would they ever know ? Is there a metal detector at these locations ? I hold an unrestricted permit in MD, and have done so for the past 18 years...
While I understand the theories of fluting - lighter/more surface area for cooling/etc. - how much weight is being saved ? Just do a few more pushups.
They do look cool, though.
While I don't disagree with hvymax as to what we think they will, and are doing, by creating their own definitions if the desire hits them, there is nothing more than two anecdote regarding MSP visits. Both of which are a bit more complicated than meets the eye. Might that be their new...
Gents:
I too am an attorney (and a retired LEO), and would point out what I believe to be a common feature in these threads that most seem to run right past in their concerns when discussing this matter. Each of the OP about the visits purchased their rifles from an out-of-state dealer, at a...
The only reason OP was contacted was because the original audit of the out-of-state dealer. Might I suggest that there was much more to the audit of the out-of-state dealer than just an the regular audit dealers get ?
Every dealer in MD I know of treats these as plain ol' rifles, with a NICS...
This !
In my case, it is my MD permit, my retired creds, my PA and FL non-res permits.
I just plain don't carry or transport through NJ or NY (drive around them, if need be), and haven't flown with a gun since I retired. If I desire to take my gun with me out-of-state, I drive. Period.
When I travel with my guns (which is virtually everywhere that I do not have to go through a metal detector), I just have my regular ID (DL), my several CCW permits, and that's it. Frankly, I think carrying receipts for purchases of guns is way overkill. Has anyone ever been challenged as to...
And why would he be stopped/pulled over ? Under what circumstances does he transport them to and from the range - thrown loose in the back seat ? Of course not (I hope !)
In a case, in the trunk, unloaded. And never, ever agree voluntarily to a search of the vehicle. He is also under no legal...
As of last week, the MSP had over 47,000 sets of paperwork.
Who says we don't have gun control ?!?
By my calculations, and based on the current and new law, a non-designated collector will be able to buy 2 to 3 guns (or at least have the paperwork submitted) before Oct. 1.
